Like in the NFL, it's not a huge advantage, but could be enough to tilt the game in the favor of the home team if they are otherwise equal. Unlike the NFL, there are not teams who have a better baseline home field advantage than others (other than the impact of attendance on the crowd noise).
In the Wild Card round often times the away team is a better team - you have a lot of poor divisions sending their winner who wouldn't even be in the playoffs otherwise, and a lot of wild card teams are teams in a tough division that would easily have won some of the other divisions.
