This is insane.
Obviously, the picks need traded 2 years out. This is a complete mess and why there needs to be roadblocks on being so far beyond a cap ..
Hopefully, the situation remedies out. Feel bad for the league as a whole. Hopefully, the other owners will work with punisher and get as close to comparable value as they can for those picks.
FWIW: It looks like it was year 3 after an expansion draft. I think what may be at play here is the owner saw a full roster with a ton of cap room. Not understanding 90% of that roster were now free agents.
>> Yes, I understand there is a warning about pending free agents <<
2 suggestions moving forward:
1. As mentioned earlier, there has to be some sort of a block going over a cap. 100%+ over a cap is simply insane.
2. Create a wider window of 1st contracts:
Rds 1-4: 5 yr deals
5-8: 4 yr deals
9-12: 3 yr deals
13-16: 2 yr deals
17-on: 1 yr deals
I appreciate everything about this game (and the time it takes to develop). I know longer allocation draft contracts have been discussed previously. This just serves as another reason the issue needs revisited.
