I noticed qbs turning their back on the rush on older codes as well. I always thought the slower release and less mobility qbs did it more often.
Passing Release determines the time between when a QB makes a decision WHO to throw it to and when he actually throws it.
Before that, the QB decision calculation is based on the probability that the WR will make a catch. This relies on the QB's INT and FOV to make the calculation. The QB has to see the WR (FOV) and then realize that he's going to be open (INT). Once he finds the open WR and decides to throw it to him, then Passing Release kicks in.
Scrambling determines how long he holds the ball before throwing it away when no one is open and he's under pressure. Scrambling also negates a penalty for throwing on the move.
