Plays Used By Best Passing Teams and Targets

I got bored and I updated my database with all of the data from 4.6 from the USFL league and the NFL league to see if I wanted to come back and play at all. Here are the plays that the best passing teams from those leagues have used in 4.6: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yzO3XWKzWcrFSoyk5ho7BhZ5i7viSm-J/view?usp=sharing

Criteria:
* >3000 yard QB, > 80 QBR [This isn't "the best" but it's a good starting point.]

Columns that need explained:
* Med Play - Median yards per play
* Yards Comp - Average yards per completion
* Yards Play - Average yards per pay
* Big Plays - Completions for >= 10 yards
* BigPlay% - Percentage of completions that result in a big play (note that this is Big Plays / Comp, the player still has to catch the ball)
* Clean% - The percentage of plays where the QB was not under pressure

How to use this:
* Filter on Distance to see the passing plays you want to see
* Note the Target% column to see what receiver is going to get the ball most often
* Adjust your overrides so that your top receiving target by position (for leagues with position rules) is getting targeted
* For leagues that don't have position rules, override the top target with your best receiver for TE or best hybrid RB/WR for RB targets

Updated a query that I use to generate passing data on my database to exclude the Flat Zone as per today's announcement.

Passing Offense: https://drive.google.com/file/d/18dvkZsr1Aq21AMKwOWB9jH9dwVtJ9yio/view?usp=sharing

Criteria:
* Teams from USFL and NFL during 4.6
* Team had >50% completion rate for the season (filters out < 50 Accuracy QBs)
* Team had >= 1.5 TD/INT ratio for the season (filters out skew from low INT QBs)

Columns that may need explained:
* ANY/A - Adjusted net yards per attempt (Google to find the formula. Rule of thumb in the NFL is that > 6 is good. Rule of thumb for MFN is > 4-5 is good.)
* BigPlay/20 - Number of big plays per 20 throws with big play being defined as a pass of >= 10 yards
* BigPlay% - Percentage of total drop backs (attempts + sacks) that resulted in a big play as defined as a pass of >= 10 yards

Passing By Target: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-vcJBGeCvjWt9VzfR7w3IGwc5RBRl0PK/view?usp=sharing

Criteria:
* Teams from USFL and NFL during 4.6
* Team had >50% completion rate for the season (filters out < 50 Accuracy QBs)
* Team had >= 1.5 TD/INT ratio for the season (filters out skew from low INT QBs)

Columns same as the OP.

Update: Fixed an issue with the target query so that the total attempts is now correct.

Hi Seth, great work and data as always, Im having trouble reading what the play is, do I need to sign in to be able to widen the column? And on the overides, the most significant that Ive found is WR at TE1, with the best one or two WRs placed at the TE position, either designated (like WR3, TE1) on the roster or by using an overide.

1-10-JUG 46 (8:13) 19-Henry Ramos pass complete to 84-Ricardo Arguello for 54 yards. TOUCHDOWN! Pressure by 99-Ismael Garrison. AZA 0 JUG 6
Offensive Play: I Formation Power Play Action HB Downfield
Defensive Play: Goal Line Attack #3

Also, the 3-1-1 has "auto'd" the GL defense in that case, giving even more advantage to the WR at TE position. https://victory.myfootballnow.com/watch/3810#701984

and another, vs OLB FZ in a CC game........ https://theefl.myfootballnow.com/watch/8826#1566674

And the I formation Twin WR formation, two pass plays, with WR at TE1 ........

2-2-ASU 42 (12:39) 8-Ryan Dixon pass complete to 15-David Buchanan for 42 yards. TOUCHDOWN! ASU 77-Timothy Hamilton was injured on the play. He looks like he should be able to return. ASU 0 UCL 6
Offensive Play: I Formation Twin WR Quick Outs
Defensive Play: 4-3 Normal Double WR1

https://ncaa.myfootballnow.com/watch/6410#1113112

The other is the Hard Slant play, same formation.

1-10-ASU 20 (1:31) 14-Jerald Kelly pass complete to 15-David Buchanan to ASU 0 for 20 yards. TOUCHDOWN! 15-David Buchanan breaks down the CB. UCL 62-Stephen Walter was injured on the play. He looks like he should be able to return. PENALTY - Pass Interference (ASU 22-Cary Evenson) (Declined) UCL 34 ASU 0
Offensive Play: I Formation Twin WR Hard Slants
Defensive Play: 4-3 Normal Man OLB Flat Zone

If you open the csv in Google sheets on your account you can save a copy of it and adjust column sizes.

And yes WR overrides on the TE are devastating. I'll write up why at some point. Basically TEs at 257 don't get separation from even the slowest LBs.

I really want to commend every owner here involved in this thread. With all of this compiled data and knowledge of the cracks and gives of this simulation, it takes those with true spirit and love for the game of football to share it. Instead of holding this to yourselves for seasons of utter domination, you freely volunteer this knowledge for everyone to study, to have a shot, and to make every league more interesting. Thats why if you have an opportunity to aquire S, M, and espesially W linebackers with acc and speed in the upper 80's.......get them. They don't need to be in the 80 or 90 overall rating, but make sure the Intelligence is at least 80 or higher as well.
