Open player card by clicking on players name
Click on "contract button" on top of player card to open up negotiations
Move the "First Year Base + Bonus" slider all the way to the left
Change "Years" in the drop down to 2 years
Move the "Bonus" slider all the way to the left (0%)
Click "Submit Offer"
A window will pop up saying that "this player will not negotiate for a bonus less than x $$"
Write that number down

In the "Years drop down" put down how many years you want to sign him for. (1 thru 6)
Move the "Bonus" slider all the way to the right (75%)
Now the fun part: Move the "First Year Base + Bonus" slider to the right little by little until your Bonus $$ (located in the Total Bonus window) is just below what the player is asking for.
Then replace the amount in the "Total Bonus" window with the actual bonus the player is asking for.
Check everything over and if its to your liking you can click the "Submit Offer" button.

The game will adjust your contract details below the "Total Bonus" window section.

Sometimes you may get a warning that your first year base is not high enough.
In this case: adjust the first year of his contract to the minimum the game is asking for. (In the Contract Detail section below the Total Bonus section).
After that you must adjust the next year's base so that it is atleast a 5% increase over the previous year.
Do this through the rest of the years one by one in order.
They must be done in order from top to bottom.
After this is done your ready to submit the contract offer.

You usually will know if he accepted the offer or not in the next spin.
One way to see is opening up his player card and click on "Details"
At the bottom will show his current contract details.
Another way is to check your transaction page and current contract offers pages. If he doesn't show up in either, he has rejected it and you may need to offer a lil more $$ or years or both.

Note: If you offer a player his min. bonus demand they usually sign.
And also note this method prolly wont net you good free agents as you might be bidding against other GM's.
You will most likely have to go above and beyond a players asking price if you think there is going to be heavy competition for him.

The above method is for resigning your own players.

You also don't have to wait until his final year of his contract to resign him either.
In some cases there are sauvy GM's out there that will resign a player with 2 years left on his contract to play with their teams dead cap space in which they can squeeze a lil cap room where they need to if the situation is right. Resigning players with 2 years left on their contract doesn't always benefit you but sometime it can depending on your present and future cap situation and the player involved.

Hope this helps.

If you are only moving the bonus percentage slider, the grand total remains the same, the upper slider for base salary affects the total. If that doesn’t change it, I’m not sure what is going wrong for you. Forgive my ignorance of the lingo, my non programmer is showing, but *** is jsids?

A user with the name "jsids" created and shared a spreadsheet to help with contract offers. It's usually quite helpful and is a great starting place.
