Bad Timeout logic

My team was down 2 point well within FG range and the other team had no timeouts. My team runs the ball, burns 6 seconds and then calls a timeout. There is no way my team should have used a timeout without at least letting the 40 second play clock run all the down first. Luckily this didn't cost me the game.

Timeout logic is still pretty poor, but believe me it is a LOT better than it used to be.

Sure, but there's no reason not to post issues like this one and hope it improves even more :)

Yes, most of the issues are outliers and I usually try to update the code pretty quickly when there is an obvious hole, so please do continue to post any timeout logic issues.

Ok.

Here's one.

It seems like no matter what the situation is, if the offensive team is actually trying to move the ball at the end of the half (or game), once the two minute warning hits, they will immediately call 2 of their 3 TOs on consecutive plays.

This is frustrating when, for example, you hit a long pass and now have the ball 1st and goal at the 5 yard line.
Why call a timeout with 1:45 to go? Maybe you then run it for 1 yard, and now you'll call your second timeout with 1:40 left.

Yeah I've seen that quite a bit as well, you're in the redzone but playing like you have 80 yards to go instead of running the clock down.

Can you post an example? They should go into a clock draining mode at this point, so there must be something else that preventing that from happening.

- Offense moves the ball to tbh opp 32 with 1:51 left and immediately takes a timeout. I can certainly see some urgency but I'm not sure that you really want a timeout there.

- Offense runs it up the middle for 3 yards to the opponent 10 with 1:21 left and immediately takes a timeout, this is certainly a part of the field and situation where you don't mind letting the clock bleed some as the offense.
