Relative Speed

DB (86 speed) is at a standstill at the 40 yard line and has to turn around . WR (83 speed) catches the pass in stride. WR has five yards on the defender, WR is at the 30, DB is at the 35. The DB catches the WR at the 15. So the DB who is only +3 speed over the WR made up 5 yards over the span of 15 yards that the WR travelled. Can someone calculate what the DBs relative speed was to make up that kind of distance over such a short span? Did he morph into Usain Bolt? I see this type of issue a lot and it is not realistic.

Almost seems as if what happened is the sim engine was determined to make the Waggle Post not result in a touchdown. Effective play prevention.

Cap it from being a touchdown but it broke free against the blitz.

Weird acceleration occurred to allow the bump and touch for the other defender to come in for the tackle.

This is one example but I've seen the longer span track downs of speed receivers/ball carriers getting brought down by slower and bulkier defenders who close in.

He might have been playing with low 70 speed depending how bad that ankle injury was in the wildcard round. If you look at the clock he covers around 20 yards in around 3 seconds between the 40 and the 20 so that's a 6 second 40 yard dash. The db covered that same ground in 2.5 or less. Probably a sub 5 second 40 yard dash. Pretty fast for this game.

Still, the reason he caught up so quickly was the difference in speed . Acceleration is noticeable in the ranges of zero to 2.5 yards....at yards 5-10 you'll see speed take over . The wr was at max speed th whole time with a slight adjustment for fatigue . ...you really see the fatigue hit after the broken tackle .

The difference of speed between a 90 and 70 is large when you compare to the nfl. You never see a nfl wr running 6 second 40 and a 4.7 db is slow too, but that's what we play with here. That's why I say our stats swing widely . ...well as widely as a high school only cause that the speed our players play at .

You wanna run sub 4.6 times to play skill positions in the nfl. Gap filling LBS might be slower but in term of relationships you would still need 80 plus speed to be one just to warrant a 5.2 fourty and have the game speed look right...or at least compare it to what we see on tv.

You got to imagine every break away with larger discrepancies in speed and weight looks like that play where Don Beebe ran down Leon lett from behind . Even though it similar size players

Speed kills in this game and is still highly over rated when relating defaults with play making ability
