I dont go for 2 much unless its endgame and the situation makes sense but going for it on 4th down is starting to gain traction in the NFL with some organizations especially Baltimore who use and incorporate an analytical approach.

going for it on 4th and 10 everywhere.. 2 points all the time, mechanical exploits etc simply because the engine allows a higher success rate than IRL?

One doesn't necessarily mean you reject the other.

NFL coaches don't shy away from these types of calls because of a low success rate. The success rate is probably higher than you think. As others and I have pointed out, many coaches are making these types of calls more frequently. Add Sean Payton to that list too. They avoid these calls because a failure to convert could cost them a game and possibly their job. We dont have that problem, so, the simulation can't be true to life in this regard.
How do I feel about the direction of the game?

I have to beat this guy who put up 93 points, so I'm gonna have to start throwing deep, going on 4th and short, going for 2 a lot more to keep up. Adapt and overcome. I'm okay with that. I'd also be okay with making these plays more difficult to convert. And even though I'm pretty sure it'll never happen I'd even be okay with us getting fired. I'm having fun.

I actually haven't played against a team that goes for two every time. I think I may have seen it a handful of times since I started playing. So I don't know if it's the league you're playing in or what, but in my leagues you just don't see it often.

This topic made me think back when my now 24yr old was 12 or 13 , we would play madden and he would always go for it on 4th down. Of course he had about a 90% success rate and I would freak out yelling " U CANT GO FOR IT ON 4th DOWN!"

WOW! That's crazy. Totally goes against everything I learned about QB attributes, he has intelligence rating of 45 and had over 700 yards!

650 of those yards were thrown to several players that have 20 points higher speed than anyone on the other team. That is a big disparity in speed here and it helps with the passing game

I have been in favor of analytics in football for the most part, and a couple years ago when Mike Tomlin used to go for 2 a lot, I read an article stating the case teams should always go for 2. The theory is, with the XP moved back the success rate was around 93% so you only need to be successful on 47% of 2 point tries to be better than that.

I was curious to test this theory with all the 2 point talk around here, so I am with this team https://fantasy-league.myfootballnow.com/team/11. I'm not doing a 1 play exploit either, I have 14 plays available. Four games in and we're 6 for 9 so we've gained 3 points going for 2 even if my kicker would have been perfect otherwise.

In addition to that, if I score first and get 2, it's 8-0 and my opponent already has to score twice. If I miss and only lead 6-0, no biggie as my defense has only given up 13 total points. I'm gonna keep doing it as long as it's working.

It doesn't always work out as planned, especially when you play a team that's been in the championship game all 9 years of a league's existence. I scored the first 2 TD's and made both conversions to go up 16-0 but I wouldn't cross the end zone again and lost 34-22.

This is about the conversions though, and tonight's 2 for 2 makes the Heisenbergs 8 for 11 on the year. For the mathematically challenged, that's an extra 5 points for us even if my kicker would have made every XP.
