I have loads that it says 1 season left. At what stage through this season (we're on match 5) should I start negotiating with them?

Any advice on negs?

Don't want to lose some of these top players, you see.

My suggestion is players that are trending on the upswing in growth to resign the ones you want early as they could still improve as the season progresses so there contract demands could get higher and the opposite for players in decline as you may get them cheaper later in the season.

Hope that helps

You have to sign them before the season ends(the players you want to keep)....If you don't then they become free agents and then you have to bid against all the players in the league..

I personally wait until I'm eliminated from the playoffs or the end of the regular season if I don't qualify for the post season to negotiate with anyone, whichever comes first.

I like to see the full season of production from someone to see if they need keeping, but for a superstar I'll generally know they're gonna be resigned and do it mid season.

Just remember ...

1. Don't ever offer what they are asking
2. Bonus money is all they care about
3. Start trying the sign the guys you know you want to keep now. That way, you are not losing them being unfamiliar with the process.
4. Have a limit on experience years. Meaning if you have a stud player but they are 10 years in the league .. avoid 6 year contracts .. lol

IDK about that last one, if you're doing a 75% bonus you're probably not really taking a big hit if they retire in 2-3 seasons. I'd base this more off of their retirement chance. If we're talking a 10th year kicker, punter or QB then chances are they're going to give you at least 3-4 seasons.

I just didn't want them signing everyone to a 6 yr deal without looking at Experience years. They have a good C at 11 yrs Id think it would be foolish to sign 6 years .. but thats not my call obviously .. lol

I agree, retirement probability is a good indicator as well ..

Right then,

I've tried having a go, but don't think I have any idea of what I'm doing!! :O

I quite like maths and stats but I can't match up the slider bars and how the affect the other bits when it recalculates stuff! For now, I;ve simply tried sliding both bars down by about 1/2, then going from there!!

Sometimes I've been told they must have a bonus total of x, so II've set that. Sometimes it's said bonus cannot be 75% (?) of the total.

Had a play around but any more advice would be great.
