Player Weight/Height?

I noticed a user designating FBs as offensive linemen with weights ranging from 226 to 253 and heights from 6'0" to 6'1". Obviously this wouldn't work in reality, and so for the purposes of the sim I'm assuming weight plays a significant role in an OL's performance in holding their blocks against bulky defensive linemen, as well as height at OT, but I thought I'd double check to see whether or not this is currently the case. Thanks!

Weight does play a significant role, height not as much.

They all have very similar attributes in the sense of size and blocking skill. The big tipping factor is going to be their experience.

I was just trying to point out, in sort of a smart *** way, that I'm sure it's me he's talking about, LOL.

Sorry, I didn't mean to call anyone out, but just wanted to see whether this was a common practice or more of a personal experiment. The only possible benefit I could make sense of was that you'd have an insanely fast OL, but that only seemed useful if there was also no significant penalty to their strength due to their light weight, so I figured I should check. I only happened to notice because you're in my division, and I was scouting out the team building strategies my future primary competition in that league were employing through the draft, and yours was most definitely unique.

It is an experiment..... I think the outside run game can be nuts and I wanted to see if a faster OL can facilitate that strategy. The thinking is that I don't need a block to last for a long time, I just need to slow the D down a little bit more. We'll see how it goes, could be fun.

Be sure to report how it goes - especially in MFN-1, I love it when people try to break the engine. Gives me things to evaluate and make better.

I don't really look at it like trying to break the engine. I look at it like if I want to run outside I need OL that can get there in time, and because of the extra room available outside, I don't need them to really hold a hole open, I just need them to get in the way of the defenders. I need them to be fast and merely engage someone on the other team. That's the idea anyway, we'll see how it goes.

Likewise though, my plan is to build a D that puts a much higher import on the speed and acceleration of the DL as well. I think speed/accel is very important on both sides of the ball.

Just so you know, that wasn't a sarcastic comment - if you do something "outside of the box" and it results in unrealistic results, I want to know about it. If you do something outside of the box that actually produces realistic results (FireFly in MFN-1 had a couple games where he didn't punt - the results matched some articles we both had read on Football Outsiders about how there is an advantage to going for it on 4th down far more than teams do - but then his second game he came up short using the same strategy, as you would expect) - I'd love to hear about that too. That's really what I mean by "breaking the engine", doing something where the cause and effect doesn't match real life. The main thing is that the guys who push the envelope are ones who help identify issues with the game engine, and I _do_ love it. Your logic for moving your positions around - I'd love to hear how it goes, and if you come to any conclusions about it what they are.
