Long Snapping

Returning from a year long sabbatical from the game, and find myself with a bit of a conundrum...what are the pitfalls of a low Long Snapping rating on a C ?

I'm guessing missed FG's ...the odd wayward punts? I've never seeing a QB fumble a snap in the shotgun.....!(?)

I have no idea, yet I've been told by Pern and seen Setherick write about it that Long Snapping has a 50% effect or at least some (aids in a positive play result?) alongside Short Snapping in the Shotgun Sets. (5 Wide/1-1-3 Shotgun and the 2 RB/3 WR Shotgun)

Long Snapping is important for firing back on Punts and Field Goal attempts. Get them off faster/cleaner and don't give the sim a reason to pull up poor results for you on these events.

Always strive to pin Long Snapping to near 100 for your Long Snapper #1 position just to cover yourself from losing on technicalities or very small factors.

Don't have to use a center for long snapping on kicks. Any lineman with good long snapping will do and a lot of TEs can also long snap.

So, should I use overrides to put my long snapping TE at C in the shotgun formation?

long snapping is reserved for kicks and punts

Yet I've been told it factors into the Shotgun Sets.

@ TW: I don't lean heavily on going into this because it's murky/cloudy. If I see that my starting center has poor Long Snapping then I'll toggle to another offensive linemen high in long snapping with short snapping abilities, as well. TE's lack short snapping, right? So I veer from that.

hmmmmm.. i got to take some time to find some verification form the top, but i do get sacked more in shotgun......soooo

with qbs not running snap to pass has to be as quick as possible.....i look a ball carry for QBs to ensure they get back quickly to set there feet and make a good throw

My theory would be and I don't have the plays pulled up in front of me so I may mis-word them...

However, I'd think if you're running the Deep Weak Long Pass or Hail Mary (if it's in that formation) from the 1-1-3....stuff like that....you better have an highly adept long snapper in there.

Lesser length routes you're probably good to go for the most part.

Overrides. One person mentioned go with the best OL LS. I'd add to that one high in RDEF and STR.
Over many seasons, I have yet to have my C be my LS.
Some good threads that taught me tons:

It does not. Short Snapping covers under center and shotgun sets.
