With a new regime set to take USC into the new season many players and positions are going to be analyzed and scrutinized in an attempt to find the right fits for the future. No battle is more publicized than the one at the most important position, quarterback. Doug Mescow is the seasoned incumbent starter that has proven to have the goods to put up numbers. His inconsistency has drawn harsh criticism from the fans and the boosters. On the other side is the raw and talented Mary Plank. Plank wasn't a highly recruited player coming out of highschool but his rocket arm has the staff excited. Both players have their unique characteristics but either has separated themselves from the other. After a solid camp from both it will come down the spring games to determine the new starter going into the season.
