Each division has gone similarly to the past with Kentucky and Alabama regaining some tread in their respected divisions. Tennessee has shown flashes but seem to crumble against top competition. Georgia and Florida don't look like they have that fire necessary to really pose a threat but the season is still young. Oklahoma St. was my dark horse for the title and while they've won ugly, are still getting it done with a young team. Oklahoma looks like they always do and host State in a huge Bedlam game tonight. Miami, the top seed in the conference in 2025, are right back in the thick of it and look ready to make another deep run. Texas have competed but still lack the killer instinct to put teams away and win the close ones. Syracuse is off to another miserable start and will need another magical run like last year to pull themselves out of despair. Clemson just doesn't seem the same without O'Brien at the helm and will have to really buckle down if they hope to stay relevant in the ACC.
Notre Dame has become one of the biggest stories in the land as they have shown that they can compete and beat anyone. Navy is flying under the radar and outside of the South Bend crumble, still look like a title contender. Surprisingly BYU hasn't fared well so far on the road and don't seem to have the same swagger they had last year. Army is off to a slow start as they rebuild but showed that in Michie Stadium they are elite. The Big 10 is back with both Rutgers and Ohio St battling for supremacy. Rutgers have put their miserable 2025 campaign behind them and are looking like the team that was supposed to compete for a title last year. Michigan is in transition as they look to turn the offense over to the young gun Ryan Finley. In the meantime they have been very competitive but can't seem to get the upper hand in close games. Iowa looks like they have a team that will be competitive in the forseeable future but may be a year away from being a contender. The Pac-12 North has seen both Washington teams flip flop recently and the Cougs look hungry in 2026. For the first time in program history the Cougs have started 5-0 and have a strong hold on the division thus far. Washington looked bound for a letdown season but I still thought they'd look a little better than they have so far. Stanford and Oregon are battling for the RR award but after the 30-0 beatdown in Palo Alto it looks like the Ducks may be the favorite once again. Last but not least is the Pac-12 South where USC is looking to three peat for the title despite many analysts thinking the Bruins were ready to knock them off. USC hasn't looked dominant but they are showing that championship mentality by doing enough to get the wins. Plank and the offense have been mediocre and will have to play better as they stare down a three game road stretch in the near future. The Bruins are an enigma. Can't figure out what's going wrong with this talented bunch but unless they get their offense rolling they might be looking up at the bowl games when it's all said and done.
