We needed booms on 2 of our top 3 picks, and we got exactly that with my third rounder being the only bust of my picks. HC David Christensen is a camp monster during his stay at RU so far. Fun fact: in his 4 training camps, the progress of his first four found picks so far has been:
12 booms
3 busts
1 no change

And our flier QB boomed too so we have our backup qb and potential starter 8 years down the line set :)

Well Florida came out with some hope, and some disappointment.

Wiley West (DB, 1st rd) +11/+1
Patrick Kohler (LB, 2nd rd) +1/-25
John Blackburn (WR, 3rd rd) +10/-12
Charles Caffrey (G/T, 4th rd) +18/+6
Kenneth Owen (RB/WR, 5th rd) +8/+12
Don Maguire (WR, 6th rd) +4/-11
James Grajeda (QB, 7th rd) 0/-12

Florida brought 7 underrated players in for camp as well. 4 of those players didn't pan out and may be cut from the team. Out of the 3 that boomed, Florida is in heaven.

Burt Donnelly (DB) +15/+11
Donnelly will step in as a nickel corner to start the season. He's slower than hoped, but his skills jump off the page. It's his spot to lose.

Gary Milner (DB) +8/+8
Milner will fill in as a nice depth piece in the db core. Not enough to grab a starting spot, but will be crucial to the team.

Rex Davey (LB) +8/+6
Davey will step in as a depth piece with the bust of Kohler. Much needed.

6 guys went positive, only one went negative (3rd rd OL of course...lol)

But really pleased with the outcome.

1st rd DE (Wild) will be in the rotation and get decent playing time while waiting for veterans to graduate.

2nd rd LG had a good enough camp that he will slid out to LT and be the day one starter.

4th rd LB was projected as depth working from the MLB slot. He had a good enough camp to slide over to SLB and start on day one

3rd, 5th, and 6th will be depth and 7th may not make the team in spite of a decent camp

UCLA camp was pretty positive and looks like we have depth at linebacker. We picked up a possession wide out and a future starter on the offensive line.

We are happy with the results.

I am a dork when it comes to numbers I took pre-camp numbers and compared them with the post camp numbers. And this is what I came up with. I did not look at individual rookies (YET) but all the rookies on each team.

Camp Winners by Average

By the way ALL the teams Big 10 had good camps by average

Iowa Hawkeyes +17/+4
Ohio State Buckeyes +16/+4
Rutgers Scarlet Knights +15/+4

Honorable Mention Kentucky Wildcats +12/+4

Toughest Camp

Florida State Seminoles +8/-7

A tornado hit the annual BYU Training Camp.
Many players were hit with flying debris and may not ever walk again.
Yikes.

Rookie Totals:
+64 Current/-21 Future

Round 1: WR Cunningham +4/-8
A depth piece and will keep a roster spot for special teams. Oh what could've been... this hurt.

Round 2: LB Robert Lewis +15/+14
Spotted a quarter on the sidewalk and avoided being hit by a car thrown from the tornado.

Round 3: LT Vince Gil +8/-1
Will be a decent OL.

Round 4: LB Michael Butler 4/-18
A letter of condolance was mailed to his family, sadly he didn't pull through.

Round 5: CB Jimmy Raber 2/-9
Had a chance to be an All-American talent. Will be lucky to carve himself out a role on special teams.

Round 6: C William Mueller +17/+9
Road-grader with bad pass-blocking technique. What could go wrong?

Round 7: WR Francis Salvador 0/-9
Trips over his own feet and can't catch a cold. No longer on the squad.

UDFAs
RB Andy George +10/+7
FB of the future, so that's something I guess?

DE Antonio Carroll +4/-6
Turns out this was an alias for an escaped criminal from the local prison. He has been returned to Gen Pop.
