The Not Quite Three Quarter League Season Review

Since there has not been any radio shows, I thought I put together The Not Quiet ¾ of Season Review

SUPER CONFERENCE

SEC EAST – Florida sits on top of the division and has a very good chance of winning the division. They have a measurement game against LSU this will show the Gators where they stack up in the bowl picture. Warthog has got the South Carolina Gamecocks in position to compete for the division and make a bowl game but need to win some tough games to remain. Tennessee has such a remote chance you might as well count them out, but this may motivate them to break some hearts. Georgia is building for the future but upset some teams to spoil their bowl bids.

SEC WEST – LSU is back where they belong on top of the division but they have some teams fight for bowl bids still to play they cannot lose focus now. Auburn, Texas A&M and Alabama are still in the bowl mix with Texas A&M having the toughest road to get there. Auburn and Alabama have similar schedules, but Auburn is playing better right now.

Big 12 – The Big 12 is king of the division in the Super Conference and probably the league. Texas is the head of the class and it appears, baring a catastrophic meltdown will be the #1 seed in the Super Conference. Oklahoma State is once again playing at a high level and will be a force. While Oklahoma needs to forget about the pass and remain focus on 1 game at a time and they to will in a bowl game. Kansas is awake folks they are going to lurking all season long and could sneak in there.

ACC – Syracuse started out strong but have chilled out they have a tough road to travel the last 5 games, winning the division maybe the only way to make the bowl game series. Clemson and Miami are in the same boat as the Syracuse they have a tough 5 game schedule and must have help to win the division. Florida State have gotten a couple victories under their belt and young quarterback Randal Meyers is showing promise

ELITE CONFERENCE

INDEPENDENT – Some would say the Independent Conference has taken a step back. But I say they are beating one another up and they suffer because of the parody in the division. Army sits on top for now but must beat BYU to keep them in line to win the division. BYU controls the road to the division title they must win their next 3 games, if they do, they will be the winner of the division and receive a bowl bid. Notre Dame can really do some damage with 2 games to play against BYU if they win both games, they will knock BYU out of the division title and the bowl series. Navy is in the mix, but their offense MUST find a way into the end zone.

BIG TEN – The Big Ten is the elite of the Elite Conference one of the top 3 teams is going to have a good season and could miss the bowl series. Michigan is the head of the class right now but must face Rutgers twice and Ohio State once, so they could falter, but they have a sold defense. Rutgers can control the division if they beat Michigan. Ohio State may have the easiest route to the division/bowl series but then again, the teams they face are all fighting for bowl bids so it could be a tough road. Iowa just hired a new Athletic Director, so teams must watch out for them playing spoiler.

PAC-12 NORTH – The state of Washington are the top tear of the division. The Washington Huskies are on top right now, but Washington State is only 2 games behind. Both teams have similar schedules down the stretch. The Huskies will likely win the division they just have too much of lead on the Cougars. Stanford will spoil Washington or Washington State but beating one of them. Oregon is done it is time to spoil someone bowl bid.

PAC-12 SOUTHBIAS ALEART!!!! If you asked me at the beginning of the season I would have told you USC was going to win the division and UCLA would be 2nd and maybe make a bowl game again this year. After 11 games UCLA sits at 10 -1 and atop of the division and conference. How did this happen the world must be ending soon…? UCLA is a top 10 offense and defense yet does not have a top 10 player in any offensive or defensive category. USC is still lurking and could still win the division if UCLA has a total meltdown. A Bowl Bid for USC is not out of the question and if they do get into the bowl series, they will be a tough team to knock out. Utah is once again a tough team if you overlook them you will lose game and be sitting in your office going WHAT HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? Arizona hang in there your offense will come around soon.

After taking a look at every team there are just a few teams who are in the bowl series and a couple who are out of the bowl series, but more than 3 quarters of the teams who are still in the mix the last 5 weeks, so the season is definitely not over.

It may still be early, but it's looking like for the first time in team history, Rutgers will have a better ranked offense than defense. Actually, 16th could be the worst ever standing for a Rutgers defense. It seems like the Rutgers defense is taking a step back :(

But offense, could end up as the best ranked offense in team history as well. Dupuis is 100% the real deal and in my opinion, at least a top 2 wide out in the country. And Montes ain't too shabby this season, since the gunslinger mentality is finally putting up yards and TDs.

So I'm still not sure what to think of us. I think if the defense stops giving up huge plays (see: Washington game this week), we can make a run to the title game. If the offense drops off substantially, we are not making the playoffs. We've been pretty good against a run of top 10 pass defenses (Michigan is another one) so we'll see. Our season comes down to these two Michigan games, and after that, who knows...

I think we're #1 in 2 key categories, Total Def and INT's thrown.
Still everything to play for in the INDY!
