Re: Scrimmage Game 3 (Extra Practice Part 1)

Everyone was shocked with the outcome of the contest in Lexington this weekend. Michigan, a heavy favorite to contend for the National Championship, was welcomed to the bluegrass by a Kentucky team with a big, big chip on their shoulder after the pre-season projections were released just days before the game.

A young, erratic QB Darrell Slack tossed a bomb to a not-so-sure-handed RB Robert Stevens, that he caught, and raced to the endzone for a 7-0 lead. The game was on! It woke Michigan up and their defense clamped down to shut Kentucky out for the rest of the half. Michigan would nurse a 13-7 lead at halftime.

No one would score in the 3rd quarter as both teams slugged it out like two boxers looking for openings in one another. Kentucky would strike first in the 4th and retake the lead 14-13. That lead would be short lived as Michigan would score a safety after pinning UK close to the endzone.

The Wildcats could have folded right there to the Wolverines and no one would have had any less respect for the fiesty 'Cats. That's not what happened, however. Michigan was forced into 6 fumbles for the game. 4 of those were recovered by Kentucky and none were more costly than the one just before the 5 minute mark. Kentucky would take possession and push their way into FG range. K Ernest Foust would nail a 51-yarder to put Kentucky ahead to stay. They would add a very late TD after stopping Michigan on downs, but that was more like salt to a wound.

This Kentucky team is full of questions heading into the last scrimmage before the regular season. Their defense is not one of those questions. This group is looking dangerous.....

P.S. I am not at all upset about the predictions guys! I did this for the pageantry of college football. ;)

I assume he's talking about the predictions Bryno & Bryson made on the most recent The Grind podcast.
