I was REALLY hoping it was snarky sarcasm.


I had subbed in RB1 Corey Dillon into that formation to get the handoff, but every single time he was fatigue ruled out, and since I didn't change my FB depth chart....well, the rest is history.


I didn't realize using players out of position was allowed/encouraged in this league.

Disappointing.


It's not. It's actually so frowned upon that there is a pretty extensive rule thats been added this year. That being said, unless I'm completely missing the point, using a RB as FB doesn't count as using a player out of position since the positions are incredibly related. The move wasn't to exploit coding issues related to speed the same way that playing a WR at RB or a CB at LB would, which is what the rule is in place to combat.

If I'm off the mark, I apologize, but like I said in my original post, the only reason I mentioned it was as a joke for Smirt since he always goes for 2 with FB Dive and I screwed up the override spectacularly since it was the first time I had done it.

Congrats LSU! Your team had to go through some very tough opponents to get this title. This is probably the most earned trophy you have ever gotten and that’s saying a lot. Good job!

Correct, using a RB as a FB is not too crazy.

Ok. That will open up a lot more options not having to use a FB.

I assume I can also use WR as TE since those positions are also closely related?

I use a WR as depth for TE but there is a speed/weight issue with WR/TE.

In all honesty if you had two difference-making RBs I’d be absolutely bewildered if you didn’t put one at FB1.

This has gotten away from the major issue: Code exploitation. Converting players to CB/WR and then playing them in unnatural positions where the only reason they succeed is poor coding is the problem. Deion Sanders wouldn’t survive a drive at DE in the NFL or college, but in MFN he’d make Reggie White look like one of the extras in The Longest Yard. This is the issue, and it’s one that we haven’t had to deal with (for the most part) in this league until two seasons ago, and it looks like that problem either dealt with itself or was dealt with. I have played in numerous leagues with guys who code break, and it gets them titles, but they’re also the reason that this is my only current league and that’s never going to change.

When I originally made my comment, it was petty, and meant as a jab to Smirt. If I was really funny, I would have sincerely meant it as sarcasm and left it at that, but I couldn’t help make fun of myself and it led to this.

Advantage of playing WR's at TE nets bigger dividends for the TE-focused plays that has a WR subbed in.

Advantage of playing RB's at FB probably nets not much of a difference at all for FB-focused plays.

*BG, I don't think you've done anything that even comes CLOSE to exploitation and personally, I don't think you really need to justify anything.

For the rest of us. I had a leader, way back in the day that had the right saying for this whole dealio, "Let your conscience be your guide." - If you get outta line, someone here is going to let you know.

I appreciate that. I just don’t want people thinking that certain gamekilling tactics are acceptable in this league, partially because it’s hard enough to find active owners to play in a no-trade league and we’ve lost too many good ones already, and also because we’ve always pushed to make this league as fair and nonsense-free as possible. I have a lot of fun here and I want everyone else to be able to say the same.
