On the record (we think), after Stanford's highly successful year, a lot of guys hit the transfer portal... Something about taking their new-found success to bigger and better places because California was 'too weird' for them. Or so the locker room rumor mill goes.
Most assuredly on the record, it seemed like the school noticed how sudden the success was, and (combined with the players transferring) decided to strike while the iron was hot, opening up the purse strings to get some
big names in the coaching room. They say they want to try and prevent a bigger mass exodus of players by getting in folks that'll be able to talk and train and gameplan big, getting more kids to buy in and yada yada.
Off the record.... Yyyyyeah, trying to get that little bit of success pretty much trashed my payroll. Having to recover under the confines of it, so we'll see how that goes. Hoping that the new-found good fortune has more to do with how I've been setting up my playbooks and such rather than pure talent.
We shall see!
