Did anyone else notice that most of the all-team freshman's are on really good teams..michigans..the Tennessees..clemsons. looks like some people did their homework :-)

i think it also has to do with opportunity. Some teams had starting roles for their freshman. I will say that the draft is like a lottery these days though. You take a high vol guy and he could end up a stud or a dud. Some of the defensive talent at the top of last year's draft was crazy. My draft class was awful outside of a very good WR i got in first round. Haven't looked in depth at this year's class but at first glance it's going to take some good research to find some gems

Opportunity is the big key like Bryson said. While not on the list, my top two picks played as great as possible as the starting safeties with under 30% catch allowed cuz my defense was already pretty strong. Being put in a good situation (or being a focal point) helps a ton.
