With a new regime set to take USC into the new season many players and positions are going to be analyzed and scrutinized in an attempt to find the right fits for the future. No battle is more publicized than the one at the most important position, quarterback.
Doug Mescow is the seasoned incumbent starter that has proven to have the goods to put up numbers. His inconsistency has drawn harsh criticism from the fans and the boosters. On the other side is the raw and talented
Mary Plank. Plank wasn't a highly recruited player coming out of highschool but his rocket arm has the staff excited. Both players have their unique characteristics but either has separated themselves from the other. After a solid camp from both it will come down the spring games to determine the new starter going into the season.
The #1 recruit in the 2023 freshman class, Woodson has already showing why he was so highly regarded. As a true freshman Woodson has stepped into the starting lineup and given the Wolverines a lock down presence in the defensive backfield. With two interceptions and only allowing 22.7% passes to be completed, Woodson is already playing at an elite level for any corner in the NCAA. Michigan is off to a 2-0 start after failing to win a game in 2022. It's still early but many scouts are already touting Woodson as one of the premiere players and he has only played two games at the collegiate level.
The "Orange Crush" cousins, David and Fred Orange are a key reason why the Alabama Crimson Tide are only one game out in the SEC West. Everyone is familiar with the David who was last year's Jim Thorpe Award winner for the nation's top defensive back but his younger relative Fred is just getting started. It was a tough camp for Fred but he's settled in and is proving to be a very productive freshman. David is among the leaders in interceptions (8) and once again is showing why he is an elite player. They both have over 20 knockdowns and their completion allowed percentage is elite (38.9, 37.6). Growing up in Georgia the pair have always dreamed about playing together and it's only fitting that they are generating so much buzz in Tuscaloosa. With four home games left in their final 5 games the Crimson Tide are going to need to continue their momentum to overtake Auburn and LSU and reach their first bowl game in league history. The future of this duo is bright.....
Not known for their recruiting prowess, the Black Knights have built their team around trying to get the most production out of players that other schools might have overlooked. This doesn't apply to the 2022 incoming class though. With the additions of DB Ray Shuman and Athlete Daniel Huff Army has changed the direction of the program. Huff came in as an overlooked running back from Indiana. Shunned by his local school Notre Dame, Huff has emerged as one of the best young playmakers in the NCAA. Not only does he lead the Knights in receiving yardage with 700 but he also has added over 200 yards rushing. On defense the prized recruit Army was able to land was defensive back Ray Shuman. Shuman was a guy thought by some to be on the radar of top ten teams in the offseason only to see his stock fall a little on signing day. Shuman put his head down and let the chip on his shoulder pave the way to an incredible training camp and start to the season. Not only has he been thrown to the fire as the team's top corner but he has arguably been the team's best defensive player through 11 games. He leads the team with 4 interceptions and 20 knockdowns while only allowing a minuscule 36.2% catches allowed. Army started off miserably losing their first five games but has turned it around thanks to the play of some of their young talent starting to get in their groove. No game was more impressive than their big win over last year's National Championship runner-up Oklahoma St. in week 11. It was a homecoming game with the season essentially on the line and the Black Knights showed that they are still a team that can play with the power schools.
A team that has narrowly missed out on the post season the past two seasons decided to make a splash in the offseason. At the top of the wish list was former UCLA Heisman Trophy winner QB Robert Beall. Arriving in Lexington with heaps of pressure on his back Beall was coming off his worst season as a collegiate QB. Despite being pressured and hit more than most quarterbacks in the country Beall never once pointed a finger or made an excuse. A born leader, he's finally fulfilling the potential he displayed in 2017. Kentucky is at the top of the SEC East with an 8-2 record. Beall is on the short list for Heisman as he's thrown for 3,709 yards, 33 TD's and only 12 interceptions. In just 10 games he has completely revitalized an offense mired in inconsistency. The Wildcats not only are looking at a Bowl game this season but they are on pace to perhaps grab a top seed and a ticket straight into the second round. Many analysts though it would be WR Kerry Servais that would explode with the addition of a top tier passer but it's been a balanced attack featuring many wr's that has made the Wildcats so successful. The most glaring difference for the team according to the coaches is the leadership Beall has brought. A graduate transfer in his swan song season, Beall is determined to do whatever it takes to get this very talented bunch as far as they can dream.
One of the hottest teams in the nation is none other than Louisiana St. University. Reeling off 6 straight wins and vaulting themselves into first place in the SEC West. The last three wins have been tight affairs with the Tigers winning by an average margin of just two points. Led by QB Benjamin Matzke the offense hasn't been dynamic but they've been clinical. The run game is always steady with the work horse Stephen Figueroa toting the rock. Redshirt soph TE Johnny Simmons has emerged as a true downfield threat and has opened up the offense for the receivers. After starting the season 0-4 the Tigers are the definition of the word streaky. If they are going to hold on and regain their Division crown that they held from 2017-2019 they will need to get more consistent against the power schools.
After two mediocre seasons by the Midshipmen's standards the team has came out of the gates looking much better in 2022. After a season of adjustment the team looks to have replaced Hall of Fame QB James Sherwood with third year RS Sophomore Scott Gee. With two wins over Marshall and a huge road win at Rutgers Navy has vaulted into the the Bowl picture. A favorable schedule in the second half of the season has many fans excited about what this team can accomplish. Sitting at 2-1 in the Independent Division, Navy has two rivalry matchups with Army that will be instrumental for the team if they hope to challenge incumbent champion Notre Dame. One of the more balanced teams, Navy is no longer a pass first attack. Their offense has evolved and a lot of their early success can be attributed to their 12th ranked defense.
Despite reaching double digit wins for five consecutive seasons the Sooners have played second fiddle to Big 12 powerhouse Oklahoma St. Like many good, but not great teams, the Sooners can play at the highest level on any given night. Unfortunately they just haven't found that consistency that allows them to take the next step into the elite. The defense is led by three-time All-American Caleb Kelly who is a well rounded sideline to sideline terror. Kelly has the Sooner defense ranked 12th in the nation. On offense the Sooners are among the league's best currently sitting at 5th. A lot of the production can be attributed to WR Abdul Adams. Adams has already amassed 712 yards and 7 TD's and is on pace for his career best in both categories. The Sooners boast many weapons on the offensive side of the ball but none are as productive or consistent as their #1 man from Hillside Highschool in North Carolina. A former RB, Adams is an exciting prospect that pro scouts have highlighted as a potential first round pick when he graduates.
A player that was often talked about coming out of high school, Washington's Ed Dalton came into the NCAA as runningback. His elite level potential and all-around skills as a pure athlete had many coaches confused on just what to think of Dalton. He lacked the elite speed that many top recruits had yet when you turned on his tape he just made plays. Washington didn't hesitate to offer this young talent and were excited when he signed his letter of intent. With intentions of being an offensive weapon at many positions it didn't take long for the staff to decide that WR was the spot that made the most sense. Not only did Dalton settle in quickly but he has taken off. His 637 receiving yards ranks 5th in the nation and is over double the next best player on the Husky roster. His 4 touchdowns tie him with fellow WR Aaron Bernal for the team lead. While he may not wow teams with his deep speed, his unique quickness and smarts have him quickly becoming the go-to guy in the Pacific Northwest.
Coming off a season in which Ohio St. won the Big Ten and marched all the way to the Rose Bowl the Buckeyes still aren't getting the respect that their proud program envisions. A team that is draped in history and accomplishment, it's taken the staff a couple years to build up the Buckeyes into one of the more dominant programs in the land. Led by the 2017 top Highschool player in the nation SS Robert Thrasher, the defense is gaining steam and proving that the #9 group in the land are poised for another deep run. The offense has been subject to much of the criticism over the years but currently rank 14th and is getting much more consistency from quarterback Michael Osuna. Joining Thrasher on the defense is two emerging superstars DE Jeffery Mahmood and MLB Pepper Johnson. Ohio St. is looking forward to a rematch of last year's Rose Bowl when Notre Dame comes to Columbus in week 9. In the mean time they have their hands full in a division that is as competitive as any in the NCAA. Both Rutgers and Iowa are poised to take the throne and all three teams sit tied at 4-1.
One of College Football's biggest playmakers, Iowa's Steve Gartman has flown under the radar in recent seasons as the Hawkeyes have balanced out a very explosive offense. Once recruited as the savior, Gartman has sacrificed some of his statistics for the betterment of the program. Despite seeing his production take a slight dip he has still been able to surpass 1,300 yards every season of his career. His unique gamebreaking abilities make him a perfect weapon on special teams where he is averaging 32 yards a kickoff return in his career. Gartman has also hit double digits in receiving touchdowns in every season but his true freshman year. With four endzone dances already in 2022 he is well on pace to keep the streak up. With a young exciting quarterback running the show in Frank White, Gartman has been a lockerroom leader and if Iowa is going to get back to their 2020 level he will have will have to play a large role. Iowa is currently 3-1 and one game back from Rutgers in a very competitive Big Ten Division.
A fast start by the two time SEC West Champion Auburn Tigers has them in the driver's seat for a third straight division title. Led by an underrated set of stars on offense the Tigers won their first bowl game in school history last season. This year QB Jay Jones is playing at another level and has already put himself in the Heisman picture. The offense is not one dimensional fortunately as RB Danny Cain has been a consistent workhorse for the team in his career. Both players are hoping this is the year the Tigers take another step and really challenge for a National Championship. The first and most important hurdle to cross is division dominance and they are establishing that as the season progresses.
The two-time National Champion QB Jon Demartini has rewritten the record books in his illustrious career and he doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. In three games the league's top quarterback has 12 TD's and only 1 interception. He's averaging 409 yards passing and has the Vols atop the SEC East Division at 3-0. In his 7th season Demartini is serperating himself atop a very competitive QB hierarchy and proving that a franchise quarterback doesn't have to be a first round 5-star athlete coming out of highschool. The staff in Knoxville has molded this kid since he stepped on campus allowing him to flourish at a level that hasn't been seen in college football.
Rutgers WR Christopher Northcutt is coming off his best season in his collegiate career that saw him nab 145 passes and 1,609 yards. He also caught 10 touchdowns marking the first time he has been in double digits in his 5 year career. Northcutt has been a steady presence in an offense that has played musical chairs at the most crucial position on the offense, QB. The Scarlet Knights have cycled through three different starters in the last five years and maintained a level of success that has equaled three straight At-Large bowl berths. Northcutt has been one of the most consistent offensive performers for the Knights and has been instrumental in mentoring teammate Richard Fitzgerald. The duo have become one of the best tandems in the Big Ten and have overcome the inconsistency of the offense. Known as a defensive dominated school, Northcutt is hoping the 23rd best passing attack in the nation can improve and create more explosion as the season advances.
Former walk-on
QB Wilfredo Whittaker has embraced the role each season his coaching staff has put before him. With a career rating over 100 and a completion % of 63.3 the staff finally decided to move Whittaker to the top of the depth chart. Through two games the Wildcats are undefeated and the offense has been more balanced than in the past. The leadership and command Whittaker has showcased is exactly why head coach William Knight decided to make the change. Arizona is three years removed from their title run and after missing out on the Bowl playoffs for the first time in school history drastic measures were taken. Whittaker won't wow anyone with his measurables but he's an accurate passer that doesn't hurt ya with turnovers. For Arizona to reclaim the Pac-12 South and regain their status as a legitimate contender Whittaker will need to bring a consistent playmaking threat to a balanced attack.
With a new staff in College Station former highly recruited Flex Tightend Roger Taylor was asked to move to the outside permanently. His size and speed will make him a redzone magnet for a team looking for a go-to-guy on the outside. In highschool Taylor did it all and has natural playmaker instincts that should translate well for the Aggies. Texas A&M is trying to adapt to the new coaching regime with many changes for the future in store.
Georgia is hoping to close the gap in the SEC West this season and much of the responsibility will lie with their 7th year starting quarterback Nicholas Smitherman. Coming off a season where he tossed 35 TD's and 14 ints, Smitherman has loads of confidence behind one of the nation's best offensive line. The staff in Athens is very optimistic and much of their confidence is due to their emerging star Smitherman.
A program looking to pick up the pieces and rebuild a core that was decimated by transfers in 2018 has two key players to build around. WR James Phillips and LB Ming Merciless are two of the brightest young talents to enter the collegiate ranks in the last two years. Stanford's success will hinge on the progression and leadership of these two 5-star freshman.
Legendary Irish Head Coach John Nickell is coming off his second National title in a row and is the reigning three-time NCAA coach of the year. His 75-5 regular season record and 5 Independent Division Titles has him on the fast track for NCAA infamy. A defensive guru at his core, Nickell has the Irish offense headed toward heights that seemed unattainable when he took the job in 2017. Perhaps his biggest strength is his ability to breakdown an opponent and his strategic eye for gameplanning.
Regular Season670/378 56.4% 74 TD/14 Int 7,834 Yards 125.93 Rating
Post Season48/25 52% 5 TD/1 Int 436 Yards 109.375 Rating
The Cal Bears went on a four game win streak earlier in the season and set themselves up for a divisional showdown with both Washington and Oregon. Five losses later and the season is a wash and fans in Northern California are left pondering what could have been. It hasn't been all lost in 2021 though as the team has continued to battle and a few players on defense have established themselves as cornerstones for the future. The leader and veteran of the group is DT Neville Walton. Walton was selected as the 30th best player in NCAA this last offseason after averaging 17.25 sacks a season over his first four years. Two young stars are starting to emerge as well for the Bears, LB John Hoover and CB Trevor Valentine. Hoover is leading the team with 12 sacks and is a sideline to sideline tackle machine. Valentine was the team's prize offseason addition and there are lots of coaches on staff that are giddy about the young player's potential. For Cal to regain the Pac-12 North crown a lot of pressure will be on this trio to lead the defense into the future.
In the offseason one of the biggest names to transfer was WR Michael Moore. Moore played one year at FCS Delaware before signing his letter of intent to play in the SEC. His raw talents have excelled under top level coaching and he vaulted himself to the top of the WR depth chart. Despite the down season for the Crimson Tide Moore has been a shining star. He's about to surpass the 2,000 yard mark receiving and has already eclipsed double digits in TD's. He is producing like a seasoned vet despite the carousel of incompetency at the QB position.
Talent wise, Oklahoma State's Randy Williams, has as much as any player in the country. Development has been the key for this young prodigy over his first five years in Stillwater. On the heels of a season where he finished 4th in the Heisman voting, Williams is playing the best football of his career in 2021. Not only is he putting up remarkable numbers but his leadership has been key to the success of the Cowboys title run. One of the biggest improvements has been William's poise and confidence in the pocket. He's not just slinging it all over the field anymore. His interceptions are down 50% and he's on pace to throw more TD's than last season. In a conference with some great passers, William's success has been widely overshadowed. With the country's best defense on one side, and a franchise quarterback on the other, Oklahoma St will not fly under the radar as they march into the Bowl playoffs.
The defending champs have been known for their stifling defense in past seasons but it's their high powered offense that is leading the way in 2021. Averaging 649.4 yards a game the Irish are scoring a whopping 50 points per game. WR's Tony Jones and Chase Claypool are arguably the best duo in NCAA history and really open up the offense for the run game. Dexter Williams and James Rorie are a formidable 1-2 punch out of the backfield. It all starts at the QB and the duo of Leslie Jacques and Brandon Wimbush have proved unmatched by any other passing attack across the nation. With home field advantage already in the can, Notre Dame's career home record is 37-2. It's going to be tough for any opponent to come into a hostile South Bend and dethrone the champs.
Ohio St. is one of the hottest teams in the nation as they look to return to the Bowl playoffs for the first time since 2017. Sitting at 9-4-1 they are only 0.5 game out of first place in the Big Ten. With two road games remaining against Stanford and Iowa the Buckeyes control their own destiny for an At-Large bid. Coming off three consecutive losing seasons the program has been revived by the late season win streak and fans across Ohio are chomping at the bit for another post season berth.
Marshall is on the verge of their second bowl appearance in school history and much of the credit can be attributed to the balance that the offense has attained. Led by star RB Ray Ferguson and wideout Ronald Stewart, the Herd were in need of a third playmaker to force opponents to respect both sides of the field in the passing game. Blessed with more ability than most players in the country, WR John Amaya had been a complete enigma for the Thundering Herd. He never could harness his talent and turn it into production that matched his skillset. In 2021 Amaya has shown that he is a player to watch going forward. He finally broke the 1,000 yard receiving mark and is tied for the team lead with 7 touchdowns. More than the actual stats is the fact that he has given the Herd a third playmaker that balances out an underrated attack. While Amaya is still a work in progress in comparison to other players with his talent, he is a big reason why Marshall is having the success so far this season.
It's not a secret that the two-time national champions boast one of the best offenses in the NCAA but it for the first time in school history the defense hasn't pulled their weight. The majority of the pressure has shifted squarely on the former Heisman Trophy winner Jonathan Demartini and his legion of playmakers. The list is long but at the top is William Brock and Charles Shackleford. Both players are dynamic and versatile. Tennessee's offense has turned into a fast break attack with most of their wins credited to outscoring opponents. Both receivers rank in the top 10 for yardage and Shackleford is tied for the NCAA lead with 13 receiving TD's. Demartini is having one of his best seasons as he's dramatically limited his turnovers while still throwing many touchdowns. The Volunteers are at a turning point in their season, the SEC East title is within grasp but only if the #2 offense in the nation can grab it.
One of the most dominant playmakers in the country, Kentucky's Kerry Servais is following up his All-American campaign in 2020 with another eye opening performance. His vertical speed is off the charts and his 21.8 yards per catch is a reflection. He currently has 11 TD's and 1,154 yards. Kentucky is scratching and clawing to get back to the form that saw them take the #1 seed in 2019 Super Conference Bowl Playoffs. After missing out on a Bowl game a year ago the Wildcats are currently sitting at a disappointing 6-5. Credit to Servais for putting up astronomical numbers on an offense that is as inconsistent as any in the SEC. For the team to finish strong and get back to a Bowl game they will need to start chucking it deep to the blazing wide receiver from Wisconsin.
Utah's rise to prominence and the #2 ranking in the BCS Poll has flown under the radar in the national media. The captain of the nation's 8th ranked offense is sophomore QB Karl Jones. Jones has amassed 7,487 yards, 61 TD's and 25 Int's over the last two years and yet is still under the microscope in Salt Lake City. Utah is two games clear of winning their first ever Pac-12 South title in school history and a lot of their success has been because of their signal caller. With some tough divisional games to come, the Bowl playoffs are in sight. Jones will need to stay consistent and humble for the Utes to finally get some post season hardware.
Rutger's sackmaster is looking to lead the Scarlet Knights to it's first ever Big Ten title.
With their second scholarship signee of the 2021 freshman class LSU added a recruit that was slightly under the radar by most colleges.
DE James Gibbons didn't check the physical boxes of a dominant defensive end coming out of highschool. His average speed and strength haven't held him back as he has been one of the best players on LSU's defense. His 9 sacks is tied for the team lead but his 52 hurries is far and away ahead of any other player in Baton Rouge. He makes up for his physical limitations with insane technique and hustle. He's quietly showing that a player with heart and determination can produce on the highest of levels.
George Finn is Redshirt Senior for USC and is the catalyst for the team's resurgence. The two-time 2nd Team All-American has flown under the radar in the NCAA but he's starting to turn some heads as an upper class-man. His 774 yards rushing leads the nation and he's producing despite the gauntlet schedule the Trojans have faced. Finn is an incredibly versatile player with skills to play WR or RB. With starting QB Doug Mescow having a sub par second season, Finn has been carrying the load and will be paramount in the Trojan's 2021 success.
In one of the most abnormal setups in the NCAA, Iowa's head coach Greg Brown decided that instead of relying on one quarterback to perform each week it would be more beneficial to rotate three guys and keep the defense guessing. This all started in 2020 and catupulted the Hawkeyes to a 12-4 record and the Big Ten title. This was even before the team landed one of the top fcs quarterbacks in the nation in the 2021 class. Iowa's future is clearly freshman Frank White and his incredible progression has many coaches scratching their heads wondering why they didn't get him. Not to be outdone is the two other quarterbacks the Hawkeyes have leaned on during their rise to prominence. Both Thomas Brown and Michael Martin have played significant roles in the offense and seem to be locked in as a trio. Between the three they have combined for 2,626 yards, 18 TDs and only 6 interceptions. After knocking off the #1 team in the nation Rutgers in week 7 the "Three-Headed Dragon" quickly caught fire and t-shirts are being worn across the state.
The two-time Doak Walker award winner Myles Gaskin has been the lead Dawg for the Huskies over his career and 2021 isn't any different. Despite teams loading up the box and trying to stop him exclusively, he has managed to almost eclipse the 1,000 yard mark for total yards in just 7 games. He has proven that he is the league's most dynamic duel threat player as he can beat opponents on the ground or through the air. The Huskies started the season off losing three of the first five games but have rebounded to reel off two wins in recent weeks to push them to the top of the Pac-12 North. If they are to going to win the fourth straight Division title it will be because their star running back paves the way..
If you could build the perfect cornerback you would come up with something similar to Alabama's David Orange. Despite playing for an underachieving Crimson Tide, Orange has been a shining star so far in 2021. He has 4 interceptions and is only allowing 37.5% of the passes thrown his way to be completed. With no penalties against him Orange is quickly becoming the premiere cover man in college football.
One of the NCAA's brightest young stars is the former top recruit Paul Johnson. He was thrown to the fire in Miami and is starting to come into his own. He's always been an effective gunslinger putting up incredible touchdown numbers for a young player but his tendency to throw the ball to the opponent has thwarted his step into the elite. In 2021 the game has started to slow down for him and his gaudy statistics are reflecting his growth. Through 5 games Johnson has 18 TD"s with only 3 interceptions. His 130.17 rating is off the charts. With three straight wins the Hurricanes are hoping to keep the momentum going in a very tough ACC division. With preseason All-American Lon Gordon becoming Johnson's go-to-guy, Miami has shown the fire power on offense that they've been craving. Look for the Canes to go only as far as the sophomore captain leads them.
Syracuse have slowing been building their program up with young talented players and last season they saw the fruits of their labor. Winning the ACC and getting to play in their first Bowl game. RS Sophomore Douglas Hemphill was plucked in the first round of recruiting in 2019 with an eye towards the future. In his third season he has taken the reins and exploded on the scenes. Currently leading the NCAA in Yards and TD's Hemphill has vaulted his name into the Heisman race. Not to be outdone is Hemphill's #1 man WR Charles Armijo. A former RB, Armijo is starting to really come into his own in his 5th season. He's averaging just under 205 receiving yards a game and has joined his teammate in the race for hardware. Most importantly these two dynamic players have the Syracuse Orange in the driver's seat of the ACC and well on their way to another Bowl berth. This year the goal is to do more damage once they make the postseason.
Last year's Heisman trophy winner Tony Jones is entering his prime and shows no signs of slowing down. Notre Dame's #1 ranked offense is built around the explosive ability of their star WR. Coming into the league as a 34th round pick, Jones has always carried a chip on his shoulder. This desire to prove the doubters wrong has driven him to the pinnacle of the NCAA mountain. He's currently averaging 207 yards receiving a game this year making him the leader in college football.
One of College football's most underrated players resides in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
DT Daniel Young popped up on the league's top 50 players ranking 48th after having a breakout year in 2020. He averaged a solid 10 sacks his first three seasons for the Cowboys but dominated the competition with 21 last season. After tying the NCAA single game sack record with 8 against Texas in week three, Young has already totaled 10 sacks in just three games. He is quickly showing that last year was no fluke and he's going to do whatever it takes to get his team a championship.
With four interceptions Army's
Marcus Hyatt has already eclipsed his season best through two games. The very first player to sign on with the Black Knights in 2017 it's been a roller coaster career for the talented corner. His skills are undeniable but his ball skills just haven't been top tier. With the fast start he's hoping to build upon his production and prove that he belongs in the upper echelon of defensive backs in the NCAA.
One of the best recruits this offseason was a transfer from FCS Montana University, James Sever. Sever brought a swagger to Utah that they sorely needed on their defense. Many scouts weren't sure how he'd handle the spotlight in a power conference like the Pac-12 but so far Sever seems to be taking it all in stride. He continues to grow and perform on the big stage like he was an upperclassman. His potential is unlimited and he has already shown that he can make plays in the NCAA. Utah is off to a hot start and the freshman is a big reason why.
When the Oregon Ducks landed highschool QB Jefferson Gunn with the seventh pick of the recruiting draft many pundits including Kirk Herbstreit weren't sold on the young passer from Southern California. He was raw and had some fine tuning to do and with so many other highly touted players still on the board there was a lot of criticism of the pick. Gunn, a soft spoken kid with tons of confidence came to Eugene with a huge chip on his shoulder. In spring practices he wowed the coaching staff and performed like a player that could be the answer at the quarterback position for the Ducks. Through two regular seasons games Gunn has taken the NCAA by storm and is starting to make a lot of skeptics change their minds. He's still got a lot of games to prove his worth but if the first two games are any kind of barometer of what's to come, Oregon may have a star in the making.
