So this guy is in his 11th year. I’m assuming whoever gets the successful waiver claim can only keep him this season? Then he gets cut and would be a FA for one last season. Just checking.

That's correct. He will have to be cut at the end of season by whichever team gets him.

It was worth it for Texas. Calderon got cut to make room.
