As we embark on a new season let’s take some time to reflect on a great and exciting 2023. Notre Dame capped off another historic unbeaten season running their NCAA record win streak up to an amazing 56 games. QB Leslie Jacques annihilated the competition throwing over 100 TD’s on the season and taking home all the post season awards. Syracuse not only got the monkey off their back and won their first Orange Bowl but they did it in dominant fashion over the two-time champion Tennessee Volunteers. The SEC took major steps in gaining back the credibility that has been questioned in recent years but the Pac-12 took a major dip resulting in many of the Conference programs picking in the top 10 of the draft. The passing offenses exploded under the new code and you saw the tightend position become one of the most coveted playmaker on teams. Rutgers defense proved to be as dominant as ever but a fledgling offense led to a last place finish in the Big Ten. LSU used the momentum of the signing of Alabama’s graduate transfer QB Wesley Terry to propel them back to the top of the Division they once dominated many years ago. Michigan and Washington St. are now relevant again and both won bowl games on the road. BYU was added to the mix and made it known that they’re a team on the rise and ready to take the next step. It wasn’t all roses and butterflies in the NCAA this year and teams like Miami, Arizona, Washington, Navy and Auburn all stumbled and fell flat. Big news stunned the landscape of college football when Bryson10 started the carrousel of changes that would shake up the men in power in the league. Leaving Notre Dame after four straight championships and taking the job at USC coupled with two veteran owners deciding to hang it up and call it a career (Mr.Krazy, Tweg84). Utah’s owner Michael77 has decided to leave the Pac-12 South Champs (Utah) and take over the Irish. With the transfer market hours away there is an excitement and buzz heading into this offseason. There is a potential gold rush of aging talent about to find new homes and for teams looking to get over the hump the next few days might be crucial. The incoming freshman class has been met with mixed reviews but there is some dynamic talent at the top of the board that will add some balance to the league’s future. Once again, congratulations on a great season and good luck going forward. The amount of $$$ that will be spent in the next few days should be entertaining!
