BRUINS TAKE BOTH GAMES WITH UTES THIS SEASONPac 12 South rival UCLA were in Salt Lake for their annual game last night. They come into the game with an 8-4 record and are trying to remain bowl eligible. Utah, on the other hand will not be going to a bowl game. They are playing to get Rookies some playing time and for pride in their program.
Utah kept the game close for the first half but UCLA came out to play in the second half and they head back to Los Angeles 9-4 with a 52-24 win.
Alex Smith went 21/40 for 321 yards 2 TD and 3 int. He made some bad throws and UCLA's corners made some good plays. It wasn't so much a mechanics problem as it was a time problem.
The highlight of the game for Utah was a 107 yard kickoff return by John Narranjo after a Bruin score.
On the defensive side of the ball James Sever had a pick, Donte Vaughn forced a fumble, Eric Thomas and Paul Krueger had sacks.
The Utes go to Annapolis, Maryland to take on the Naval Academy who are still in the hunt for a bowl berth.
