New Leadership Acquired In Arizona

The Arizona Wildcats new Athletic Director, TimReeseJr, has taken the reigns and began his tenure by hiring Head Coach Billy Hobson to lead the football squad. During his first press conference, delayed due to illness, Hobson said he will implement his version of the West Coast offense. "I will be evaluating all positions, and, as of this moment, there are no guarantees for a starter at any position." Recent changes to NCAA game rules and regulations have many coaches around the country scratching their head, and doing the same thing this pre-season.

"This team finished 6-10 last year, which was a little disappointing. I have been asked by fans what I think our record will be this year. I always tell them somewhere between undefeated and win less, but probably not either one of those" Hobson said getting a few chuckles from the reporters. "Frankly, and I mean no disrespect to the former coaching staff, but I cannot make heads nor tails on where this team was going personnel wise. They may have had a plan in mind, but I cannot seem to grasp it. In order for my scheme to work, we need to play a few games so I can see who is going to be doing what." When asked by this reporter if this was a rebuild he stated, "Every single season is a rebuild, people come people go, some years it's more than others. From what I have seen so far, we have some hard work to do. On the other hand, I do see some talent on paper for this team. We went out and recruited some potentially talented freshmen, and I feel like we have enough skills that I can work a game plan."

Fans are excited for the arrival of Jose Malone the RS freshman TE, who had a great training camp. Hobson said "We had a pretty good camp, these guys are working hard. I think we made progress at TE, WR and Offensive Guard. We also had a couple of guys, who still may need some work. Then there are a few guys who might just be focusing on their degree instead of football."

This looks like it's going to be at least an interesting era here at Arizona Stadium.

I would like to apologize for my inactivity on the boards. It has been one thing after another lately, and I am now starting to come around after the flu. I have barely had the ambition to keep the team and playbook set. I am hoping that this will be the last of me being sick for the year...

Statement from Arizona Wildcats director, Tim Reese.

"My first year at the reigns we took a struggling roster, and made the best we could with it. We will be taking the time to scout new prospects that will be joining the team this year, hoping to avoid some of the issues we had with some players in the last recruitment period. We have made several moves this off-season, bringing in new Head Coach Chris Sanders who continues to make adjustments and additions to his coaching staff. We are looking forward toward the upcoming season."

- Mahed Spaulding reporting

A tired and beleaguered looking Athletic director TimReeseJr approached the podium alongside Head Coach Chris Sanders. Neither looked like they had slept in days. After an opening season slim victory in week 1, The Wildcat offense has looked like kittens, managing just 9 points in that stretch. "We have players who have played well, but as a team, not so much." With that said, he turned the press conference over to Coach Sanders, grabbed his extremely large cup of coffee, and exited.
"A quarter of the way through the season, and our team has one touchdown...from the defense. We have had enough time to figure out that most of our plays are not working. So, before anyone asks, Haskins is our starter. We feel like he is developing just fine, and as a coaching staff, we have just not put the players and plays he needs in the right places for him. I am just going to end this by saying we have tweaked the playbook to put better players in better spots, and we will keep doing that until we find what works." At this point Sanders pulled the mic from its holder, dropped it on the podium, grabbed his giant coffee cup, his playbook and left.

This was a challenging season. In the end it is not outside of what we expected, with a total tear down and rebuild of this team. We have two really good QB's on this team, but they can't win the game by themselves. These two guys will compete for the starting position next year. Our saving grace my first 2 seasons here, was our defense. Until this season. We are already out there scouting heavily, looking to improve in that department as well.

(On a side note, I apologize for not being active recently on the boards. I live on the northern border of NY, Quebec and Ontario CA, where we only get a few months of "outside weather", I am an avid gardener, and with me being on disability, I actually have time to take care of my landscaping, tending to and devouring and sharing my strawberries, lettuce, peas, green beans, cucumbers and etc. I just got my first tomato the other day, but my plants are over 5 ft tall lol. Meanwhile, I am here, putting together useless game plans and trying to figure out why my QB's can't get it done and my defense is all like )
