Starting QB
Christopher Christiansen has officially been benched after 7 consecutive disappointing performances for the Trojans. The USC Redshirted freshman was recruited and viewed as a very potent leader to guide USC to a potential bowl game. As the season has progressed however, Christiansen has not found any momentum whatsoever for the Trojans, Constantly off target and "creating nothing out of something" HC Allan Bender put into perspective in Mondays press conference.
"We rely on a efficient captain on both sides of the ball, and unfortunately Christiansen is just not ready to be a role model in that category. We're unsure if it comes down to him or our offensive unit as a whole, but our production has been unsuccessful to say the least."
Christiansen's 7 game tenure has him at 1,320 yards, 34.9% completion rating, 5 yards per attempt, a 6:7 TD/INT ratio, and a degrading 48.7 QB rating. It has been rumored by numerous sources that Christiansen has not taken the announcement lightly and has demoralized into "uneccesary drinking habits" recently. An investigation is currently underway into whether Christiansen has had past alcohol issues while on campus.
With Christiansen no longer under center, Redshirt Freshman
Richard Rivera will get his 1st chance to start for the Trojans. He will start against the Georgia Bulldogs this Saturday under the lights.
