Texas went to the big apple. NY,NY to practice againt the Black Knights of Army. The Longhorns rode off into the sunset, back to Texas with a 13-7 victory.

Rookie RB Byron Gribble, nephew of Dale Gribble from the animated series "King of the Hill" had a productive practice, 26 carries for 93 yards. John Saunders 13/74, Andrew Patchen 15/16 yards.

Ill try to get back and comment on the Texas defense shortly.

LONGHORNS LOSE IN ATHENS BUT KEPT IT INTERESTING

The Longhorns were in Athens, Georgia "in between the hedges" facing Georgia last night. Georgia built a 24-0 lead and took it into the 3rd quarter before Texas could put up a FG. When Texas did start scoring they did it with a pick 6 and the help of an onside kick recovery. Texas actually had a chance to tie the game in the final minutes but couldn't get it done.

Don Anderson, the Rookie QB playing in his 1st College game in place of injured Cleo Cohen was 13/37 for 183 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, and he was sacked 4 times. We hope the jitters have subsided for the game tonight against Florida State.

Other rookies on the Texas squad saw action as well. Gribble carried for 26 yards. and caught a pass for 11 yards. WLB Strunk had 4 tackles and 2 missed tackles. We will be keeping an eye on the progress of these 3 young players.

Florida State tonight in Autsin!

TEXAS RUNS THE SEMINOLES BACK TO FLORIDA

The three rookies from Texas each played a role in the Longhorns 34-19 victory over FSU. QB Don Anderson was 8/16 for 249 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, Byron Gribble had a great day running the ball 26/183 with a TD. He broke a really long run in the first half, and WLB James Strunk had 6 tackles and a sack. The win takes Texas to 1-1 for the season.

There is no time for keg parties and celebration in Austin though the season is young and Week 3 brings #4 Oklahoma State in Stillwater. The Longhorns are 14 point underdogs and have never beaten OSU in 8 games. So there is lots of work to do this week if we want to give our team a chance to not win but even compete with Oklahoma State.
