On the first day of signing, Washington State picked up Running back Lencho Wicks and Linebacker Zeus Kelekolio who both showed their worth during the training camp.

Wicks looks really explosive going through small holes and trucking through defenders like a bullet. he also been showing signs that he is comfortable with the Run and Shoot offense with being a checkdown receiver.

Kelekolio on the other hand although couldn’t catch up with Wicks in terms of speed, but he was able to contain Wicks to the inside. Kelekolio was also able to generate pressure even against Rexford off the edge if he has to.

Here are some questions during the interview that Wicks and Kelekolio answered

To Wicks:
Q: ”how do you feel with your presence on offense affect your teammates?"
A: As a running back, It is my duty to control the tempo and support the receivers by puncture through the 2nd level or catch checkdowns.

Q: “What have you been focusing on during training camp?”
A: “Because of how Coach Brown’s offensive philosophy, Ive been working on Oklahoma drills and pass catching to fit his scheme”

To Kelekolio
Q: “How do you elevate the performance on the defensive side?”
A: “I am the complete opposite of Lencho, because any run or short yards pass gets to my territory is gonna pay the price”

Q: “Same question as Lencho’s, What have you been focusing during training camp?”
A: “Similar to Lencho, I have been focusing on Oklahoma drills and most of the time against Lencho. Even though he has beaten me 10 to 2 right now”

Week 1: Washington State vs Stanford 12-7

This season for the cougars they start off against what will be a familiar foe, Stanford. Stanford picked up a prospect who was noted for being in the FCS from Montana State, Uncle Rico. In he first play, James Jackson welcomed the new quarterback with a sack on the first defensive play along with Trevor Valentine causing the first turnover for the cougars in the 1st quarter. During the 2nd quarter the referees made a controversial call where Wicks reached but has not called the play a touchdown on 3rd and goal. Even though Wicks hasn't made his first touchdown as a cougar yet, he says that there will be more opportunities ahead. The first and only touchdown for the cougars in the game goes to Cyrill Burns for a 31 yard touchdown pass by Robert Rexford (pictured during that play).

Cougar player of the week: DE James Jackson; 6 Tkls 1 Sks 6 Hurr

Week 2: Washington State vs Navy

In week 2 Washington State was against Navy who just had a tough loss against BYU. During the 1st quarter it was a defensive battle with only Navy being able to grab the first points while during the 2nd the Cougars were abysmal until a key fumble by CB John Hoover and was able to recover the football. Right after the key fumble, QB Robert Rexford threw a 86 yard touchdown to key player from last week Cyrill Burns which lead to Washington's offense to step up ending the half with the lead of only 1 point. 3rd quarter started where the half ended with Washington being able to put up a running game against Navy and was able to get another touchdown pass by Rexford to RB/FB Robert Bramblett for the final touchdown of the game while the defense held the Midshipmen to only a field goal during the last half.

Cougars Player of the week: CB John Hoover; 10 Tkls 1 Force Fumble

Before heading to the other side of the US, the cougars will be against our division rival the 0-2 Oregon Ducks.
