Assessing the Carnage

Well, the we havent asked FEMA to come to Michigan, so Ill call it a soft win on training camp.

7 players boomed - none were projected starters, but Ill have some god competition at a few spots which is good.

6 progressed - 5 are proj starters. Solid.

16 held flat - 9 projected starters.

10 declined - 3 proj starters

5 slid - 2 proj starters

3 plummeted - 1 proj starter

QB (obviously critical) was among the -1 declines, but his starting ratings are good enough that he should still grow into an effective player.

RB1 progressed and OLine suffered very little damage and had one back-up really pop. I should be solid here.

Receivers are a mixed bag, again, the beginning ratings in the areas that matter are high enough to sustain a slide.

Front 7 (not even worth breaking out the positions) kinda ugly... we might need PEDs.

Secondary - pretty good overall.

I'll take it.

RNG crushed my team: 11+, 14 Level, 19-
_____________________________________________________

Boom (+3, and up)
2 (LDE 1, SS 2)

Progressed (+2)
4 (TE 2, RDE 2, WLB 1)

Increase (+1)
5 (#3 pick TE 1)

Level (NC)
14 (MLB1 & 2, FS1 & 2, CB1)

Decrease (-1)
8 (#1 and #2 picks RB1, DT1; RDE1, CB2 & 3)

Slide (-2)
5 (RB2, C1, SLB1)

Bust (-3, and lower)
6 (WR2, 3, & 4, LG1, SAM2)
_____________________________________________________

Overall:
Offense: +66/-22 (Starters +35/-3)
Defense: +71/+2 (Starters +36/0)
Specials: +9/+4
Team: +146/-16

5 Projected Starters increased
7 no change
10 Projected Starters decreased, a number of them sizably.

Summary:
My top 2 picks will decline (Vol 8 and 23) but be serviceable players.
The entire WR corps forgot how to play football overnight, currently working on their interpretive dance degrees.
LDE looks to boom and will provide some help to the #1 pick.
Rookie QB won the camp battle and will continue to improve as Dunbar hasn't taken the news very well at all.

I'm happy with TC, for the most part. My key players, with the notable exception of one, either stayed stable or got better.

OFFENSE:
1st Rd Pick QB Randy Williams: +4/0. With a default potential of 95, I couldn't be happier that Williams stayed stable.
3rd RD Pick RB Terry Pauli: +5/+2 Awesome. My big weapon got a little better.
6th RD Pick WR Mark Omalley, (+5/+4) and 8th RD Pick WR Derrick Vos (+3/+2) My receiving tandem is in great shape and will be terrorizing opposing secondaries soon!

Offensive Line: Not a good TC for the big men. Not one plus, everybody was either a 0 or a -1, with one -2. And it wasn't a good bunch to begin with...

DEFENSE:
2nd RD Pick DT Daniel Young: +13/+1. Dude! It's hard to fathom, but Young got even more dominant. His potential improved to 98!
9th RD Pick MLB Antonio Sampson +4/+5 HUGE jump, he's turned into a great 9th round pick.
4th RD Pick CB Juan Hoke: +5/-6 This is where the good news ends. The Cowboy secondary took some hits, starting with Hoke. He's still very good, but this will weaken the defense.
5th RD Pick SS John Williams: +6/-1 A small slide, hopefully he doesn't decline too much as the seasons progress.
7th RD Pick CB Marcelino Roush +4/0 Our #2 CB stayed stable, which is good.

+181 Present Overall
-12 Future Overall
---------------------------------
All of This Based on My weights.

Not one single player took a negative hit on Present Overall

25 players went negative on their Future Overall
(14 went -1, 5 went -2, 4 went -3, 1 went -4, 1 went -5)
Biggest Losers: RB Thomas Alvarez -4 and RG Theodore Paige -5

12 players were stationary on their Future Overall

15 players went positive on their Future Overall
(8 went +1, 3 went +2, 1 went +3, 1 went +4, 2 went +6)
Biggest Winners: FB Louis Cole +6 and CB Joseph Hubbs +6

Originally, I was not excited about my Wildcats......After reviewing everything, I'm more happy about what these guys might be able to accomplish. Maybe not this season, but they could grow into something solid.

My post TC grade: 3.5 Offense is my weakness. Defense wins Championship. (That will not happen with this Kentucky team this season. lol

It was a big camp for Notre Dame as the Blue and Gold game highlights we the talk of South Bend. The team saw +219/+21 added to the roster and the staff is excited about how the young players reacted to the coaching they received. The offense performed well in the first half as starting QB Brandon Wimbush was hitting his receivers in stride. While the first team offense was impressive the backup QB's really struggled against the starting defense. The defensive backs were very impressive and despite their youth, look to be strength on the defense. Overall the team has a lot of growing to do but it looks like the future is bright for the Fighting Irish.

LSU got destroyed in training camp. Best of luck to everyone else who won't be drafting in the top 10 for the next 4 years lol.

I had a pretty solid camp actually. Yet my secondary is garbage, with one of my top guys back there going down -10

I had one guy with 0 volatility lose 1 point in future rating: LB James Barragan

As my post in team news states: 24 players lost at least one point in future rating and 14 gained at least one. ... Rough camp.

Nice review Bryson. I have a question. I look at CB Julian Love's play card and +7/-2. Do these values change for each of us according to weights? I always thought progression would be the same weighted or default. Sorry for the dumb question.
