I would say yes to Oklahoma State- week 1, Texas- week 3 and Notre dame- week 4 they were probably near the top. Not sure when Rutgers dropped or where UCLA was, but yes to BYU and I am not sure army had cracked the top 10 yet and yes I still have navy, UCLA and a tough Oklahoma game.
Weeks 1-4 there is no top-10 as the BCS doesn't come out until Week 5.
And no, your past wins don't become more valuable once the other team gets hot - as you played them on a down-cycle, not while clicking so the win is less impressive in voters eyes.
The one caveat is that your strength of schedule is dynamic throughout the season and will change retroactive games as it is a full-season look as opposed to a point in space view.
