I will be covering first-round picks and other performances of note.
Tennessee Volunteers
Super-high pick SS Terrence Lewis didn't boom, but he looks very solid, which is good, because the Volunteers will be needing him very badly. Felix Lakes looks like a very promising QBOTF. Other than that, the camp looks lackluster.
South Carolina Gamecocks
First-round pick FS John Warren boomed, and now looks like a star. Second-round pick RG Matthew Weaver laid an egg, but everybody else looks pretty good. I'll have what he's having!
Florida Gators
First-round LG Cameron Moore busted, but still looks pretty good, just not a star. Second-round C Ted Gully busted too, and is now not a good enough blocker. All around, a lousy camp.
Georgia Bulldogs
First-round DT Glenn Ford (nice name change!) busted, but still is very important. Sixth-round WLB Don Knots boomed, and now looks almost as good as second-round SLB Robert Mitchum. Can he make enough progress to be useful? Mitchum still has a good upside, but speed is a big problem. Maybe MLB would be the way to go.
Alabama Crimson Tide
First-round RDE Bradley Berrios busted, and now looks painfully ordinary. He's still stout against the run, but he's not the dangerous pass rusher he might have been. They backed him up with a boomer, though, in LDE David Jones, who looks like he'll be a star, so it won't hurt as much as it might have. In the seventh round, they also got the punter they so badly needed.
The rest of the camp looks pretty sad, so it was a good thing they were smart about the risks they took.
LSU Tigers
First-round CB Joe Goodall busted. He was never fast enough, and now he is not an elite cover guy either. I don't know what they'll do with him. Third-round DB Elmo Ward boomed, however, so the first-round bust hurts a lot less. He'll never be an elite cover guy, but he's fast.
Second-round TE Brandon Cox boomed, and he looks like he'll be a big problem for everybody else. The Tigers will need to outscore most of their problems, so it's a good thing they'll be able to do that.
Auburn Tigers
First-round RG Brian Garten busted in the wrong way. He is now bad enough at pass blocking that you have to worry about him. Almost everyone else went backwards too. What an ugly camp.
Texas A&M Aggies
First-round LT Kermit Perez boomed, but not spectacularly. He won't be the stud run blocker you'd like over there. The rest of the line spots look very crowded, however, so he can't be moved over to the right, as someone else might like. Second-round MLB Robert Battle busted, and he's lousy at coverage anyway. The rest of the cap was up and down.
