Both looking forward and not looking forward to training camp..

Really need my Offensive Lineman and one of my backs to have a positive camp.

Likewise... I threw a lot out there on secondary, O-Line, and wideouts, including a lot of cheap UDFA signings. Gotta hope something pans out.

This training camp could shape the stage for another golden age of LSU offense.

Then again, it could also be another tragic salary cap sink of 50 overall players.

Clemson needed a decent camp with some veterans retiring. The results...

#45 James Peters CB R 4/-3 33/52
#60 Brandon Olson RT R 4/1 34/69
#91 Lester Davis LDE R 14/1 60/74
#14 Gerald Marr WR R 8/2 36/56
#67 Darrell Harder RT R 8/2 53/70
#53 Nathan Vann MLB R 13/6 48/81
#89 John Biscoe TE R 11/7 47/75

LB Natan Vann was a huge pick at 1-30. The Tigers are old at LB and he will be the starting MLB after Dendy leaves.

TE Biscoe's camp will get him a starting job when TE Smith moves on after next season.

Other picks give depth. Not a bad camp!

I think it was a good camp... I had one player that just bombed and will be transferring to McDonalds University...

1st Rounder - WR Clinton Fischer +9/+2 a surprise pick had a good camp. I felt Northwestern did not need a WR but he was the best player on my board when our pick camp up. We pulled the trigger and Clinton showed us we did not make a mistake.

2nd Round - Safety Justin Monaghan +11/+0 another position that I felt we didn't need but again highest rated player on my board, so we added some depth to our Safety Core. Justin will be a solid back up at both Safety spots.

3rd Round - Offensive Lineman James Cavender +5/+8 definitely a position of need and Northwestern took a chance and we were rewarded. James will be a starter for Northwestern soon and will be a part of improving our run game.

4th Round - Running Back Timmy Locklin +4/-1 Northwestern is aging at the Running Back Spot so this was a position of need. Locklin did not excel in training camp but he did not disappoint either. Time will tell if he will be starter or a backup.

5th Round - Defensive End Howard Rogers. +0/-24 Major disappointment for Howard. He will have to drop down to Community College to see if he can acquire another skill because football is not the answer for him.

6th Round - Running Back Fred Burbage +3/-4 - Fred is trying to make the team as a Running Back. He has upcoming scrimmages to prove he can do it. Wait and see.

7th Round - Fullback Angel Congdon +7/-3 - Angel has proven he can run block. He has the upcoming scrimmages to prove he can do more.

If I have to say Northwestern picked up 4 players who will make the roster 2 that could be backup/special teamers 1 well he is turning his job application desperately in hopes he can find one soon. It was a good off season for Northwestern

1.32 - RB Kevin Faulk - 10/10 40/81 - My new RB1. He and Fournette are going to be a fun one-two punch.
2.32 - TE David LaFleur - 10/-13 40/60 - Much like his namesake in the NFL, he busted HARD. He's cut in a couple years.
3.32 - RDE Victor Pruitt - 20/11 46/80 - New 4th DL. Really pleased about this one.
4.32 - LB David Rieth - 7/7 43/72 - Nice depth LB.
5.32 - CB David Wilcox - 7/6 38/59 - Bottom of the depth chart DB depth. Might get cut in a year or two if his progression caps out.
6.32 - DL Daniel Driscoll - 2/-6 23/40 - Bust and cut.
7.32 - OL Steven Jordan - 0/2 - 3/61 - Intriguing OL prospect that looks like a slow bloomer. If he caps out before getting his blocking stats over 50, he's cut, but he could end up being a starter in 4-5 seasons if he keeps rising.

Best draft in a while for LSU. Could really have used a LaFleur boom, but alas, you can't win them all.

Wow!
I thought the Clemson draft was pretty good. 11 more seasons of watching an elite RB eat us up come playoff time. We were trying to "keep up with the Jones's" or in this case "keep up with the other Tigers". Great job, bgedgerly!

Pick 1-13: Seth Stewart (LT); +17/+0 (56/90)
Assessment: Absolutely solid pick to seal up the line on the left side as the Cardinal look to improve running lanes and response to outside pressure. Wasn't expecting the upside to increase, but the massive jump in current talent is nice to see.

Pick 2-12: Jesse Chadwell (WR); +6/+2 (40/73)
Assessment: We needed more speed in the receiving corps, and we got more speed. Can't run routes worth a ****, but is fearless, and looks to bump hard and catch smooth. Looking to also grow into a strong asset in the return game.

Pick 3-13: Leonard Vasquez (CB); +13/-5 (44/66)
Assessment: We needed to make major gains in the secondary, but this wasn't it. Was already a bit risky with a lack of speed (was playing over positional weight), but was hoping for a bump in upside.

Pick 4-12: Adam Green (RT); +2/-4 (49/72)
Assessment: Improvements to the O-Line are never a bad thing, and with lack of Draft depth in other positions of need, we tried to at least grab depth. While this wasn't a bad pick, and he didn't disappoint much in camp, he's going to find it tough to break the roster.

Pick 5-13: Michael Maupin (RB); +11/+2 (45/75)
Assessment: A very pleasant surprise here. The coaches were wanting to get a developmental talent at RB with Salazar and Younger closer to graduation than not. Maupin may wind up supplanting even Kerns' talent by year's end.

Pick 6-12: Patrick Seay (C); +2/-3 (41/69)
Assessment: Another shot at depth, though (relatively speaking) center was the weakest of the positions on the roster. Seay may still have an outside shot of making it happen, but all things considered, it's a very long shot.

Pick 7-13: Daniel Moreno (LG); +3/-3 (32/64)
Assessment: Same as Seay, with a little less upside and a little more depth at the position. He's a likely cut.

UDFAs: The Cardinal brought in 7 UDFAs for tryouts. Of these, 3 (C Guy Wardlaw, SS James Kraus, and CB William Vicknair) found themselves getting past camp and having a look in the preseason.
