Pick 1-13: Seth Stewart (LT); +17/+0 (56/90)
Assessment: Absolutely solid pick to seal up the line on the left side as the Cardinal look to improve running lanes and response to outside pressure. Wasn't expecting the upside to increase, but the massive jump in current talent is nice to see.
Pick 2-12: Jesse Chadwell (WR); +6/+2 (40/73)
Assessment: We needed more speed in the receiving corps, and we got more speed. Can't run routes worth a ****, but is fearless, and looks to bump hard and catch smooth. Looking to also grow into a strong asset in the return game.
Pick 3-13: Leonard Vasquez (CB); +13/-5 (44/66)
Assessment: We needed to make major gains in the secondary, but this wasn't it. Was already a bit risky with a lack of speed (was playing over positional weight), but was hoping for a bump in upside.
Pick 4-12: Adam Green (RT); +2/-4 (49/72)
Assessment: Improvements to the O-Line are never a bad thing, and with lack of Draft depth in other positions of need, we tried to at least grab depth. While this wasn't a bad pick, and he didn't disappoint much in camp, he's going to find it tough to break the roster.
Pick 5-13: Michael Maupin (RB); +11/+2 (45/75)
Assessment: A
very pleasant surprise here. The coaches were wanting to get a developmental talent at RB with Salazar and Younger closer to graduation than not. Maupin may wind up supplanting even Kerns' talent by year's end.
Pick 6-12: Patrick Seay (C); +2/-3 (41/69)
Assessment: Another shot at depth, though (relatively speaking) center was the weakest of the positions on the roster. Seay may still have an outside shot of making it happen, but all things considered, it's a very long shot.
Pick 7-13: Daniel Moreno (LG); +3/-3 (32/64)
Assessment: Same as Seay, with a little less upside and a little more depth at the position. He's a likely cut.
UDFAs: The Cardinal brought in 7 UDFAs for tryouts. Of these, 3 (C Guy Wardlaw, SS James Kraus, and CB William Vicknair) found themselves getting past camp and having a look in the preseason.
