Meh.. if a team has three losses against teams with 2 losses combined. That's got to mean something it seems like you were talking about margin of Victory not strength of schedule

i'm not talking specifically about any team to be honest. i'm making a generalization about how i vote. If i see a team with a crazy hard schedule (like yourself the first couple weeks), then i wouldn't vote for them to be at the bottom if they lost a couple and sat 0-2. As the season wears on you will see the better teams start to show their true colors but there's no way a 3-4 team that has a brutal schedule has to be below a team that is 4-3 that has played weaker teams. That's what i'm talking about. Margin of victory will show you just how dominant teams can be but it's not the end all. If we just went by records in all the voting it would be cut and dry and there would be no factors but the records. In the end it's all for fun anyways since the last team remaining is crowned champ without a vote to sway anything. :)

Well my initial reaction to the standings was where's Washington? they are 4-3. Are they not there due to the weakness of our division? Just trying to understand he said he had tough matchups so without a doubt he should be there no?

ya i think there's a lot of factors in the bcs that bryno has talked about. I'll let him get into specifics but as far as washington, I think they're a top 12 team but they need to start winning against teams that are in the top 12 as well :)

Dash - this should help...(and anybody else who was wondering)

The "BCS" Soup

By Bryno

I wanted to share some of the ingredients to how I compile the BCS poll. So here goes.

1. Wins and Winning Percentage
2. Win vs Unbeaten (starting in wk5)
Win vs #1 Team (starting wk5)
Win vs #2 Team(starting wk5)
Beat team w/Win Streak > 3(starting in wk5)
Road Win
Win vs Ranked
Win on Road vs #1 or #2 (as an unranked)
Margin of V

3. Loss vs Ranked
Loss vs Ranked & lose @ home

Loss vs Unranked & lose @ home
Loss vs Unranked

Loss vs Team w/L3 Streak or more (Starting in Wk5)

4. Strength of Schedule - This one is pretty cool as it is "alive" throughout the season. Meaning that When the poll came out in week 5, you may have played a team in weeks 1-4 that was undefeated. Which would obviously give you a bump UP in S.O.S. at that point. But lets say that same undefeated team then goes on to be .500 over the next 4 weeks (lose 4 straight), the value you were getting for S.O.S. in week 5 has now lost considerable value, effecting the weighting toward your poll points. So, this metric is somewhat volatile.

5. Some value is put into the BCS from the other two Polls. (Coaches and MFN) but this weighting is minimal and has maybe a 3% effect on your BCS ranking (in comparison to the other metrics listed above.)

Weighting - it is different for different pieces of the data listed above but it is (and has been) fed
consistently,
across the board for all 32 teams since day 1, into each week's tally.

Not Perfect: I will never claim that it is. But I did put a lot of time and thinking into it to try to make it be as fair as possible. And I did do it for something fun for everyone in the league to enjoy. I hope you do.

Thanks,
B

A couple of reasons why Washington is not top 12:

1. They are 2 and 3 over their last 5
2. Lost at Home Twice - one of those to an unranked Kentucky (at the time). Losing at home to an unranked team gives you the largest single-event deduction that you can get.
3. The 2 wins they do have in the last 5 were both at home vs. Stanford and Oregon...that isn't exactly going to BOOST them in the poll. (sorry to Cook & Swish) no offense intended.

And Bryson is right. It's early. So much can still happen.

I pretty well showed I DON'T deserve to be ranked.....

If my QB is not in the running for goat of the week something is wrong...1 int and 3 lost fumbles in his own end led to all 4 scores for Iowa. No one sitting next to him on the team bus.

GG oklahoma, it was a game i was nervous about. I gameplanned to stop your pass and it definitely was a lucky guess. Good luck the rest of the season, i'm sure you'll get that team back on track.

Gg mcarovil. Watching that game gave me anxiety til the very end lol. There was no room for error for both defenses considering how the game was so tight on that side of the football for both teams. I just managed to catch a couple breaks to get a couple more field goals that made the difference. Til next time ;)

Ncaa head to head wins:

Mcarovil : 1
Hchoudhry17 : 1

Iowa has played well recently. We're going to try to make a push to get ranked. .... maybe.
