NCAA QB Rankings

By Mr.Krazy

Wanted to do this much earlier in the season but never found the time for it until now. Earlier this year, I saw on NFL.com a segment that listed the top 10 QB's in the NCAA sot of like a QB power ranking. I've decided to try something new and see if you guys find this segment interesting.

Your opinions are welcome, and you may add to this thread if you so please.

1. Tennessee Volunteers QB Johnathan Demartini

recent games: 22/37, 426 yards, 6 TD's, 1 INT in 45-0 Win @ home

Season: 4,440 yards, 51.9% completion, 46 TD's, 14 INT's

Tennessee's production under Demartini is nothing short of satisfactory. The 2-time NCAA Champion continues to be an exceptionally elite QB, raising many brows from pro-level scouts all across the United States. Many defenses are found sleeping against Demartini and the Volunteers beastly offensive attack and it doesn't seem to be slowing down one bit. Finding the endzone 40+ times this season, Demartini is due for another stat-shattering season as well as the eligibility of the Heisman Trophy.

2. Navy Midshipmen QB James Sherwood

recent games: 31/45, 404 yards, 5 TD, 0 INT's in 60-24 Win @ home

Season: 3,387 yards, 59.6% completion, 29 TD's, 6 INT's

Sherwood has been red hot as of late, continuing a strong Senior year with the Midshipmen. Throwing 8 TD's in the last 2 games, Sherwood is proving to himself and others that he is capable of being a consistent QB at the next level. With incredible football instincts and a substantial completion rating, Sherwood is nearly on his own level in terms of a talented QB.

3. Notre Dame Fighting Irish QB Brandon Wimbush

recent games: 16/31, 310 yards, 3 TD's, 2 INT's in 60-20 Win @ Rutgers

Season: 3,777 yards, 49.7% completion, 27 TD's, 16 INT's

While many like to criticize Wimbush's recent play, he's still undefeated this season and has led the Irish to an 11-0 start. Yes, the fighting Irish QB has areas that still need improvement, but his ability to produce explosive plays is second to none. Averaging nearly 10 yards per pass attempt, Wimbush is the only .500+ starting QB that has accomplished that feat so far. While his accuracy and completion percentage may be questionable at times, he's still getting those all important W's as he compliments one of the stingiest college defenses in recent history.

4. Washington Huskies QB Joseph London

recent games: 18/22, 211 yards, 3 TD's, 1 INT in 42-13 Win @ home

Season: 3,319 yards, 64.8% completion, 24 TD's, 7 INT's

The Dawgs have quickly become a force to be reckoned with thanks to London's accurate passing attack along with Gaskin's forceful rushing attack. London may not put up the big passing numbers, but boy does he boast an accurate arm. Having the best completion percentage in the NCAA with an incredulous 64.8%, London has been tearing apart defenses with his precise vision of the field. If London continues his impressive streak, he may become one of the more diverse West Coast QB's at the next level.

5. Michigan Wolverines QB James Sousa

recent games: 17/39, 291 yards, 3 TD's, 0 INT in 43-17 Win @ home

Season: 3,711 yards, 54% completion, 28 TD's, 8 INT's

Under a 2 QB system in Michigan, Sousa has exceeded expectations for the Wolverines and has taken over the starting role from fellow QB Eric Nolan. Sousa's mobility in the pocket allows him extra time to find the open man downfield as well as providing some big time plays when it matters. Sousa has helped lead the way for Michigan as the current Big Ten leader at 9-2, and has shown to coaches and scouts alike that this kid can play some football.

6. Arizona Wildcats QB Joseph Dimond

recent games: 23/34, 351 yards, 2 TD's, 3 INT's in 17-43 Loss @ Michigan

Season: 2,815 yards, 64.5% completion, 24 TD's, 12 INT's

Dimond has proven to coaches that he can be a trustworthy starting option over William Oconnor and its paying off for Arizona. Despite Dimond's recent performance, he still has an extremely precise throwing arm and doubles his TD's over INT's. Facing pressure from the Utah Utes in the Pac-12 South, it will be interesting to see how Dimond performs as the division get tighter before the upcoming bowl games come into play.

7. Arkansas Razorbacks QB Jay Jones

recent games: 43/74, 515 yards, 3 TD's, 2 INT's in 32-39 Loss @ home

Season: 4,236 yards, 61.3% completion, 29 TD's, 14 INT's

Nicknamed "J.J.", the Razorbacks QB has been sufficient in the Arkansas spread offense. For a pass heavy offense, Jones has incredible resilience and he shows that with his 60+ completion percentage on the season. Jones always keeps his team within striking distance even on his bad games, as he's proven to be durable through all 4 quarters. As Jones's college career develops further, he'll be looked upon to improve thoroughly in the near future if he wants to be looked at as a potential starter at the higher level.

8. Oklahoma State Cowboys QB Randy Williams

recent games: 19/37, 373 yards, 4 TD's, 2 INT's in 31-15 Win @ FSU

Season: 3,366 yards, 54.9% completion, 28 TD's, 16 INT's

Williams continues to play some strong football at Oklahoma State as he's on pace for his best statistical season to date. The Redshirt Sophomore has been sensational this season, showcasing satisfactory accuracy as well as an abundant of versatility. Williams is an intriguing prospect to keep an eye on as its not often you see a mobile QB playing as well as he has the past few seasons.

9. Clemson Tigers QB Neal Obrien

recent games: 19/33, 333 yards, 3 TD's, 1 INT's in 33-18 Win @ home

Season: 3,257 yards, 63.2% completion, 22 TD's, 10 INT's

Entering his Junior year, Obrien had high expectations entering this season and has yet to disappoint. Clemson's passing offense has been spectacular this year after a strong 9-2 start and will only get better with Obrien at the helm. Obrien currently resides in the top 5 when it comes to his accuracy, but lacks finding the endzone at times. Given time, Obrien could become a top 5 QB in the NCAA and draw some attention from pro level scouts.

10. Georgia Bulldogs Nicholas Smitherman

recent games: No stats from 7-33 Loss @ Kentucky

Season: 3,454 yards, 57% completion, 24 TD's, 13 INT's

Sitting out the last game with a hand injury hurt Smitherman in the rankings, but when he's on the field, he can be a dangerously accurate QB. Smitherman sets his stance in the pocket quicker than any other QB despite his lack of mobility, giving him an increased chance in completing the quick pass. While Georgia may not get invited to participate in a bowl game, the Sophomore QB gives Georgia high expectations in the future of the franchise.

On the bubble: California Golden Bears QB Rodney Williams, Utah Utes QB Karl Jones, Florida State Seminoles QB Jim Kelly

he actually moved the ball well at times just kept turning it over. I think he has the makeup for a solid player, i'm just not sure he'll thrive in a volume passing offense. Still he has you right in the thick of it in just his second year
