Week 11 saw what might be the Hawkeyes best performance of the season, and they did it without four starters. Iowa beat the Ohio State Buckeyes 24-3 with a dominant defensive performance. The Hawkeyes defense tallied 7 sacks, 3 INTs, and 2 forced fumbles. They also held the Buckeyes to just 62 yards rushing on 15 carries and
QB Cedric Lett to 15 completions on 32 attempts for 183 yards.
Hawkeyes Stats:
Game *****:
Offense:
QB Thomas BrownDefense:
LB Bryan BeyerFor all of the positives in this game, there is still some negatives. The biggest of those is fumbles. Iowa fumbled 4 times. And this has been a problem all season. Coches believe that these players will learn to hold onto the ball when they gain more experience, but for now, it is a huge problem.
Also as the stats reflect, three different players shared the bulk of rushing duty with
RB Francis Carey who remains out with neck, knee, and ankle injuries.
Up next: The Hawkeyes are 9 point underdogs as they travel to Rutgers to face the Scarlet Knights. It's a game Iowa believes they have a good chance of winning. Iowa thinks this week 11 victory against Ohio State may be a turning point for them, and now they want to prove it.
