2017, WEEK #5: #2 UCLA LOSES HEART BREAKER TO ARIZONA IN OT, 12-10.

Arizona was physical with the Bruins all day.

In what had to be one of the most physical games of the season, two of the top teams battled it out in a epic game in Pasadena.

Both defenses dominated the day as both team ended regular with just 10 points. Even with both team have multiple possessions in OT neither offensive did much. The nations top offense (500+ yards a game) was held to just 348 yards of total offense in almost 5 quarters of play. They also held QB Robert Beall to just 81 QB ratings and just one TD on the day creating five sacks.

The UCLA defense was not to be outdone as the continue to perform better and better this week, this time holding the Cats to just 269 of total offense and 9 sacks. LB Randy Wilson was all over the field and the stud of the day with 14 tackles and 3 sacks.

Bruins get their licks in, in this hard hitting affair.

With neither team turnover the ball on the day it was critical penalties that seemed to be the difference in the game. The Bruins had 2 TDs called back and 2 critical defensive penalties in 3rd down situations that could have changed the flow of the game.

But it all came down to one controversial play, right before the snap from the Bruins own 8 yard line their seem to be a whistle of stop of action, Bruins players stopped and QB Beall seem to simply retreat to the end zone, but Cats seemed to play on a Beall was sacked for a game ending safety. Their seemed to be a lot of confusion and chaos by what happened, but the officials said their was one stoppage, safety stands, Wildcats win 12-10. Strange ending to a great game.

"I just feel bad for the kids that it ended that way. They deserved better. I want to give that Arizona team all the credit in the world, they had a plan and executed it well. That defense is as advertised. But we still feel we let this one slip away. We had two big plays called back because of dumb penalties late. We gave up first downs when we are trying to get off the field on third down on some bone head penalties. And you cannot miss 40 yard field goals in OT. You live for those kicks, we have to convert. But it is all a learning experience. We will learn from this and get better. We will see them again and have a change to redeem ourselves. Our goals have not changed one bit." stated CoachCBJII

2017, WEEK #6: BRUINS BOUNCE BACK VERSUS KENTUCKY, WINS 43-30

Beall goes deep versus Kentucky

If you can't beat one Wildcat, try another? Well, at least that was the plan as the Bruins tried to shake off a heart breaking lost to Arizona last week.

The Bruins responded with a solid performance that saw them up 33 - 13 by halftime. Late in the 3rd quarter starters would start to be pulled and the Bruins would come out victorious 43-30.

The Nation's top offense put up 604 yards of offense. 504 of those threw the air as Beall was on fire all game long going 19 for 29, 540 yards, with 4 TDs, no picks, and gaudy 148.4 QB rating. The Bruins other weapon Bobby Warfield was held to just 60 yards and 3 yards a carry on the ground but would have 207 yards receiving and 4 total TDs. TE John Jahn also put ubig numbers with 174 yards receiving.

The Bruins defense would record 10 sacks on the day with defensive star LB Randy Wilson leading the way with 6 tackles and 2 sacks.

Bruins defense celebrates 1 of 10 sacks.

Next Up: Bruins take on the #19 Georgia Bulldogs in the Rose Bowl. Can the Bruins stay on track at home?

2017, WEEK #7: BRUINS TAME DAWGS IN ROUT, 57-10

Beall throws for over 500 yards AGAIN

The Bruin offense is officially back on all cylinders as they put up ridiculous numbers versus Georgia:

QB - Robert Beall: 30/40 (75%), 541 yards, 4 TDS, no turnovers, and 150 QB Rating
RB - Bobbie Warfield: 202 yards rushing, 188 yards receiving, and 3 TDs.
TE - John Jahn: 135 yards receiving and 2 TDs
OL - No sacks and only 1 penalty, 815 yards, 30 first downs!

On the defensive side of the ball the defensive only gave up 239 of offense with 78 of those on play with the back ups. They held the Bulldogs to just 6 total first downs and 19 minutes of time of possession, 1 for 15 on 3rd down and 12 punts. DT John Johnson was a one man wrecking crew with 5 tackles and all of the team's 4 sacks!

CB - William Mosby picks off Georgia QB

Next Up: The Bruins will face division foe Arizona State in their 4th straight home game before going on the road for a month. Can the Bruins hit the midway point on a high note?

2017, WEEK #8: BRUINS HAMMER ASU 71-7

Warfield Breaks free for big gain on big day!

The Sun Devils never had a chance. The Bruins hit them early and often with big blows the was UCLA easily cruise to a 71-7 thrashing of ASU. The Bruins put up a ridiculous 799 yards offense.

Beall would throw for 505 yards and 7 TDs in Heisman like performance. But RB Warfield was just as impressive with 255 rushing, 117 receiving, and 2 TDs. Arguably the two best players in the nation our in the same team!

But we really need to start paying more attention to this Bruin defense. They held ASU to just 219 yards with 8 sacks, 2 Interceptions, and just 1 for 15 on 3rd down. All-American Candidate MLB Randy Wilson had 7 more tackles on the day with DT John Johnson with 3 sacks and DE David Morin with 4!

And we need to mention Kicker Brian Levine that was 8 for 8 on extra points and 5 for 5 on field goals with two from more than 50 yards.

Next Up: The Bruins travel to the swamp to take on the Florida Gators.

2017, WEEK #9: BRUINS SLOPPY BUT VICTORIOUS VERSUS GATORS

It did not look great at times but the Bruins managed to take care of business on the road with a 42-14 win over Florida.

Bruin defense runs back interception

The Bruins turned the ball over 4 times on the day, Beall was less than perfect as he would throw 3 picks as he tried to force the ball deep on several occasions. The Bruins count special teams TDs as turnovers as Florida would run kick off back for a TD to make a early blow look reasonable at 17-7.

But overall the Bruins would put up another 600+ yards of offense and 30 first downs. Beall would throw for an average (for him) 345 yards with just an 86 QB rating. But his Heisman "running mate" would have his usual big day, as RB Bobbie Warfield would rush for 199 yards and 2 TDS. TE John Jahn would have another big day as well with 8 receptions for 141 yards and a touchdown.

The Bruins is starting to hit their stride as they gave up just 98 total yards and 6 first downs.

"It wasn't always pretty, but we did what we had to do to come away with a win. This was a long trip for us from California to Florida and it seem to show early with our sluggish play and some mental miscues. Robert really forced the ball a lot today. He knows to play within the scheme and the big plays will take of of themselves. But he will learn from the experience and continue to get better. I was really impressed with our D today. Those 3 picks only led to 1 score. That's a good day right there. You don't usually lose the turnover battle like that and still win games. So it shows you those guys were really locked in today."

Next Up: The Iowa Hawkeyes. Bruins look to make it five in a row for the first time this season.
