2019 Training Camp Addition

The Bruins closed training camp, Coach Dunlap announced that incoming Linebacker William Howe has decided that football was not his passion and decided to go back home to work in his mother's Flower & Cupcake Business.

In other moves, Tight End Tony Johnson is going to move to the offensive line in hopes to save his football career.

On to some of the positives notes of camp, LB Allen Norton should the Bruins faithful he is going to be a force to wreckin with on defense. LB Dennis Ricks move to Linebacker was a positive decision, WR Daniel Vega though not great in every category his speed and hands will be a great addition to wide receiver core. And Finally, Big Glen Smith has shown enough that even if he doesn't make the final roster he will keep his scholarship and be groomed to be a future coach.

When asked about Safety John Mayo, coach Dunlap said "John is a good kid and a great athlete we will find a place to play him. It is all up to him if he wants to play football or be a Hollywood star."

The upcoming season is coming fast. The jury is still out on how the Bruins will fair this season. But GM Otterpop and Coach Dunlap have been work feverishly to work out a game plan to see UCLA Football climbing the ranks of this season college poll.

2019 Pre-Season Recap

2019 Saw much of the same from last season the defense giving up big chunks on passing plays. Speaking with Coach Dunlap he expressed concern but also wanted to remind myself and Bruins fans that it was preseason and the goal here was to evaluate all the players not necessarily win the game or the score of the game.

But Coach Dunlap did express that stopping the pass is still a focus on defense and wished that he had a couple more scrimmages to try some things out on defense to see if they work. But in a few days we are going Palo Alto to face the Stanford Cardinal and like it or not we will have to try some things in a Pace 12 South Match up.

Some positives Robert Beall continues to show he will be future NFL star, Bobbie Warfield appears to left last season woes behind him. Red-shirt Freshman Wide Daniel Vegas has had a tremendous camp along with Walk-On WR Robert Smith.

Troubled Place Kicker Frank Nichol after criticizing the team field goal holder for his misses in the first preseason game has left campus and will not return to the team.

Coach Dunlap has also notified that RB/WR Frank Compton, WR Gregory Kriby, Walk-On Guard Jason Gray, Freshmen Tackle John McNeil and Hector Poovey Scholarships have been pulled.

Frank was a good kid but couldn't keep his grades and acceptable level. Glen Smith the darling Center from a small Texas High School was just over matched, but he will stay on and begin his career as a football coach.

And on a final note Safety Steven Bacon suffered a broken leg in the last game against Florida State and will be out for the rest of season. Tough break he was looking to be a starter this season.

The first game is around the corner, Bruins face the Cardinal in the season opener.

Palo Alto, California

The Bruins go into Palo Alto and come out with the win. The story of the game was mistakes made by the Bruins. Bruins had 9 Penalties for 85 yards, Quarterback William Wilkinson had 2 interceptions and walk-on kicker Dean Green missed two extra points. But even with all these mistakes, the Bruins pulled out the win by shutting out the Cardinal 22 - 0.

The Bruins continued to evaluate their talent so every active player played in the game. The offensive continued to struggle but managed to generate in total offense. The defense showed much improvement in this game by holding the Cardinal to a total of 232 yards.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME - TE John Jahn 4 receptions for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME - LB/DE John Constanino 3 Tackles, 1 sack and 1 hurry.

Next up for the Bruins will be PAC 12 and Crosstown Rival the Trojans of USC. The Bruin Bear has gone into hibernation to prevent any misfortune before the big game.

This was a battle of halves the 1st have the game was played close to a draw with both teams battling for field position. The second half saw the Trojans pull away with 17 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter. After that, the Bruins had no answer and with the continued pressure that the Trojans applied there was no comeback to be made.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME - FS John Mayo 14 tackles, 1 sack, 1 hurry, and 1 Pass Knockdown

Week #3 Stillwater, Oklahoma

Another week and another lost for your Bruins. At time the Bruins looked good and others they did not. The offensive showed they could move the ball but once they enter the red zone key turnovers prevented them from scoring. While on Defense big plays continue to hunt the secondary.

Speaking with Coach Dunlap, "Our offense really struggle without TE John Jaha out with injured hand, and our defense had some good moments, there is hope they just need to believe in themselves. Our team will learn and we will continue to improve."

Nothing gets any easier for the Bruins in week 4 when Powerhouse Ohio State comes into Pasadena.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME - WR John Harper 5 receptions for 106 yards and 5 Kick Returns for 138 Yards

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME - LB Allen Norton 7 tackles and 5 hurries

Week #4 Pasadena, California

Big Ten powerhouse came into the Rose Bowl hungry and angry. And they took their frustration out on the Bruins secondary throwing for 553 yards.

When asked about how to approves the Secondary Coach Dunlap and Coach Cash are in agreement, the secondary is playing their hearts out, they will continue to approve. Remember this is a new secondary from last year squad. They need to gel together we will figure out the right combination.

On offense QB Robert Beall, WR John Harper and TE John Jahn continue to lead the way. With Redshirt Freshman, WR Daniel Vega and Redshirt Sophmore continue to show they can perform when called upon.

Offensive Player of the Game - WR John Haprer 11 receptions for 172 yards

CB Wade Mitcham - 8 Tackles, 1 Pass Defection and 25% catches allowed

Week #5 Berkley California

The Bruins when into California Memorial Stadium and beat the Golden Bears 31 to 17. The Bruins offense was a balanced attack that saw RB Robbie Warfield rush for 85 yards, Backup RB Otis Briones carry the ball into the end zone on two separate occasions and little known WR Eric Reulet catching the ball 7 times for 124 yards.

While on defense the Bruins made a lot of changes that at times appear to have fixed the big plays that were largely prevalent in the previous 3 games. The game was tied up at halftime but the defense held the Golden Bears to 3 points in the 2nd half to help cement the game.

Up next the Bruins travel the Los Angeles Coliseum to face crosstown rivals the Trojans fo Southern California. The Bruins will be looking to finally show they can stop the Trojans. Can they do it? We will have to wait and See

GO BRUINS!!!!

OFFENSE PLAYER OF THE GAME - WR Eric Reulet 7 Receptions for 124 yards

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME - Linebacker Allen Norton 7 tackles, 1 Sack, and 1 Hurry

After nearly two weeks this morning in a last ditch effort UCLA Computers have come back online. Everything has been lost though, so we a few days away to fully operational.

Sorry everyone I have been working from a phone to keep up my team. But this morning I was finally able to get my home computer working again. This was honestly my last attempt before I had to break down and actually buy a new computer.

I did lose everything. Some of my stuff maybe backed up some some stuff may not who knows. But at least I will be able to get back working on my MFN teams again. That is all that matters right :)

At least we scored 31 points in our last game so that is good. Not bad considering I was using my phone to game plan.

Injuries continue to plaque the Bruins this 2019 season. The Bruins have had to play without QB Robert Beall, HB Bobbie Warfield, TE John Jahn, WR John Harper, along with most of the Bruins secondary in and out of the lineup all season.

After losing to the Thundering Herd coach Dunlap praises his team as they continue to lose key players, but never giving up on the field.

Probables that are out for the remainder of the season are, RB Bobbie Warield, who was playing some WR to fill the hole when the Bruins lost star WR John Harper last week. Cornerback/Safety William Rosenthal is appears he will also miss the remaining games.

On brighter side of the injury side of things CB Wade Mitchman, CB Terrance Miller and Safety/Cornerback John Mayo will all be back the next game.

Bruins have not had a the season that everyone was hoping but they continue to move forward and grow as a team.
