LONGHORNS PICK OFF 5, BEAT UCLA

Texas picked off UCLA QB William Wilkinson 5 times and sacked him 4 times and got the big win here in Austin 30-13.

Texas QB Griffin went 14/27 269 yards, 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Andrew Jetton caught 5 passes for 161 yards with a TD to lead the team in receptions. Anthony Patchen had 24 carries for 27 yards, it may not seem like a lot but it kept the clock rolling and helped in the win.

On D Prahl, Cutler, Lewis, Pearson, and Feldman all had picks.
Thomas Person and Raul Lewis led the team with 7 tackles each.

Texas goes to 2-6 on the season and host the 3-5 Alabama Crimison Tide next week. Let's keep the winning going boys, afterwards we're going to Stubbs for some of them ribs.

LONGHORNS FINISH SEASON

Texas made it through its first season with the new program director. They ended up 3-13 and were beaten up badly several times throughout the season. The highlight of their season was an upset of Georgia, a game the Bulldogs needed to win to get qualified for the bowl playoffs. There were several low points and I really don't wish to delve into them.
The team will be addressing their shortcomings during the draft. It should be a high pick because of the record. The Texas Longhorns football program may be in a bit of a slump but they have a lot of heart, a lot of pride, and a lot of people supporting them. So they will get back into being a team you don't want to play....it just may take some time. Join us next season for some more Texas Longhorns Football.

GEORGIA BEATS LONGHORNS

The Georgia Bulldogs built a 17-0 lead and Texas could get no closer than 27-20 in the fourth quarter even with Andrew Jettons' 17 catch, 276 yard effort Texas lost to Georgia 34-20.

Texas QB Jose Griffin went 22/56 378 yards with 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Without those picks, Texas would have been in a better spot to make it a game.

On Defense CB Lewis and LB Mills led the team with 10 tackles each.

Kansas comes up next on the schedule. Divisional rivals, being 14 point underdogs, no wins so far Texas has a lot to come out and play for. Let's hope they do just that.

[b]TEXAS BEATEN BADLY IN SEATTLE[b]

The Longhorns were up in Seattle, Washington to take on the Huskies last night in an attempt to get into the win column. Didn't happen. The Huskies, like always came to play. Texas lost 52-10 and there is little positive for the team to take away from this game. The 2 "play makers", RB Patchen, and WR Andrew Jetton each had a fumble. The Texas offense moved Jetton around during the game but it resulted in less production from the offense. Jetton caught 5/85 yards and 1 TD. Patchen had 15 runs for 101 yards. The Washingon RB gashed the Texas defense for 161 yards.
Herbert Mc Knight led the defense with 12 tackles.

The team now will have their home opener vs. Tennessee (3-1) so things aren't any easier by any stretch of the imagination. If you like burnt orange, this is the game to see.
Texas are 14 point under dogs.

TENNESSEE TOO MUCH FOR TEXAS TO HANDLE

Tennessee was in Austin last night to take on the struggling Longhorns. Aside from Andrew Jetton and Andrew Patchen, the Longhorns aren't getting any results. The Volunteers on the other hand are 2 time league champs and ranked in the top 5.

Tennessee came out and established an early 17-0 lead before Patchen broke a run to make it 17-7. Then late in the 2nd quarter, with Tennessee up 27-7 Patchen broke another run of 11 yards to make it a 27-14 game and still some optimism as they took that score into the locker room.

But in the 2nd half the Tennessee defense got into the scoring as Keith Avilia took a Jose Griffin pass to the end zone for a pick 6. All optimism was taken away on that play and the Longhorns were in "let's get this over" mode. The final was Tennessee Volunteers 44 Texas Longhorns 27.

Tennessee had 27 first downs, 641 yards from scrimmage, and 284 yards rushing. All three of those stats need to be at least cut in half for Texas to even have a chance to win.

Texas had a respectable offensive day. 516 yards, 113 rushing, 403 passing.

Jose Griffin went 21/41 418 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT. Andrew Jetton had his usual big numbers with 10 receptions for 204 yards and 1 TD. Jetton is one of the leagues top receivers this season. Patchen had a good day running the ball 16/115, 2 TD's.

On defense, there is a lot to work on in practice this week. Tomas Person led the D with 8 tackles. Herbert McKnight had a pick and forced a fumble. Raul Lewis also had a pick.

Things don't get much easier this week with Florida St. up on the schedule. The last time Texas played these guys it was a pre season game but it was a game that we remember. Now is the time for reckoning of any kind to take place as FSU is 1-4. So let's see how the Longhorns come out and play this week.

LONGHORNS DROP 6TH STRAIGHT GAME

Florida State was in Austin to take on Texas and it was a pretty close game but in the end a Longhorn turnover deep in their own territory sealed the fate and FSU came away with a 19-10 win.

The Longhorns have Oklahoma next on the schedule. The team is going to have to reach deep within and play like we here in Austin, Texas know.....expect them to be able to do that.

OKLAHOMA BEATS TEXAS 45-14

Oklahoma sat the tone of the game on the opening kickoff. Rodney Anderson took the kick from 6 yards deep in his own end zone and ran, hardly touched, by K Bruce Levine all the way for a quick 6 points.

There were some bright moments for the Longhorns in the game as they climbed and fought their was to within 6 at 14-8. But a quick Sooner score at the 2 minute mark of the 2nd quarter took any hopes the Longhorns had to keep it close. QB Austin Kendall tested CB Raul Lewis and Lewis made him pay. He had 3 interceptions on the day. Pearson had one as well.

WR Andrew Jetton was held in check as he only had 3 catches for 11 yards.

The loss takes the Longhorns to 0-7 and turning this season into a folly. The Longhorns have a trip up to Eugene, Oregon to take on the 2-5 Oregon Ducks. Hopefully they can get a win in the unfriendly Autzen Stadium.

DUCKS RUN OVER LONGHORNS

It's supposed to go the other way, Ducks don't stampede, cattle do. But in this game the Ducks did the stomping. Running for 229 yards as a team. "They have a talented back up there in Oregon" a Texas coach stated. He wished to keep his identity secret. Brett Batty is the player the coach referred to. "They have a **** good football team up there In Oregon, I am at a loss on how they do not have a winning record."

The 41-19 loss drops the Longhorns to 0-8 on the season and things do not get easier at any time in this league. They play another opponent from the Pac 12, this time the Cal Golden Bears.

I don't know what it's going to take to get this team into the W column because this is getting out of hand. I guess just keep working, try something different. We will see tomorrow night vs Cal at home.

TEXAS GETS FIRST WIN OF SEASON

The California "Bad News" Golden Bears were in town to play the Longhorns last night in what for them has to be a nightmare.

Texas had 3 picks, 3 fumble recoveries, 2 special teams TD's, 2 safety's, and 7 sacks. Murphys Law was in full strength for Cal. The result was a 41 to 19 game.

Texas had Patchen returning kicks and he scored 2 times.
ng
Jose Griffin threw a lot less and it ended up pretty positive for the Longhorns. 12\24 for 200 yards. He had 2 TD passes.. Herrera caught 4 for 74 yards, Jetton 2/72. On the ground Patchen ran 24\36 yards. Sanders 14\31 yards and a TD.

On defense Raul Lewia led with 9 tackles. Steve Henderson had 4 sacks, Pearsson, Banks, and Briceno each had 1. Blaha, Mills, and Halter each forced a fumble. Delasso, Collins, and Pearsson had a pick.

The Longhorns will be home next to face Florida. Hopefully the good fortune will keep going for us and we can get another win.

TEXAS BEATS FLORIDA

The Longhorns win again! This time, a 27-16 game over the Gators. It was a well played football game. No turnovers.

Patchen was the workhorse 23 carries for 155. Sanders did the scoring though with 2 TD's. McLane was top WR 3/127 yards 1 TD.

On defense Julius Mills led the team with 10 tackles. Steve Henderson had 5 tackles 2 sacks.

Next up is 0-11 Stanford, Texas HAS to be aware of a let down and not allow one.
