Overall, great camp!
1. S Daniel Hancock 10/-4:
Ughhhhh. The only negative of camp. I was super hopeful I would have an elite safety and a lock for the next 10 seasons back there like Edmonson was. Likely the opening day starter at safety, but will likely end up in the honey badger, Swiss army knife type of player on my defense, lining up as a lb at times. Still a nice fresh addition of talent to the defense. Not a great cover guy, but has wheels.
2. DE Keith Odum 16/4:
Will be here for a long time. Starts likely as a backup on a talent filled line, but will be a starter some day. Not elite speed, but great techniques will make him good. Already maxed out which is huge. Still climbing weight though.
3. RB Alfonso Walden 7/5:
My draft steal post draft solidified that status after camp. Still cutting weight and should get to 80+ speed. Could serve as a RB 2/3 this season, and is the RB of the future. Let's go!
4. G Kevin Barnes 10/6:
Starts likely as a backup unless someone struggles, but he's a lock on the line as soon when the next player graduates, which is very soon. Still picking up weight, but I love this guy.
5. CB Jacob Poland 8/7:
My flyer of the draft paid off. Still a long way to go coverage wise, but physically, he belongs. Ideally he can get that man cover up enough to be a nickel cb for the future. That would be amazing value at this stage of the draft. He'll likely be stashed away on the depth chart for now except for special teams.
6. T Harlan Jackson 12/6:
His run blocking is still not pretty, but he seems like he can make it to solid backup status for the future. He'll be depth this year.
7. WR Zachary Merchant 14/5:
Slow, but good techniques and skills other than avoiding BR. Stashed on the depth chart under a top WR core in the nation, but his maxed 100 Run blocking skill is going to be quite useful for my offense.
Overall:
1 current starter
3 or 4 future starters
Remaining rostered backups.
Rebuilt depth along the lines as well as some solid future players. Lucked out in camp again, even though it was supposed to be a low vol draft for us.
Cash Cannon and that atrocious draft class really did die for this.... It may not have been the way I envisioned, but he is truly a Rutgers hero.
