1. CB - Bruce Jenkins: Crashed and burned during training camp, although I had a feeling once I saw his Vol go up by 4 after drafting him that he would be a bust :( Due to his speed and somewhat decent tackling, he may be able to make an impact on special teams but he'll be a complete liability in coverage.
2. OT - Juan King: Boomed during camp and maxed out this pass block. Will definitely provide some early depth on the O-line as he continues to work on his run blocking, but looks to be a starting tackle for the Longhorns by year 2.
3. OLB - Otto Nolan: Another good camp from the speedy outside backer. Hopefully his M2M continues to climb into the 70 range to compliment his decent B&R. Will definitely see the field on special teams this year with the potential to be a situational LB. If we stay with the 3-4 look moving forward will vie for a starting spot at one of the OLB spots in the future.
4. RB - Christopher Hayes: Will never be a threat to catch passes out of the backfield but his speed and acceleration could be a good combo to help with outside runs in situations. Depth role moving forward if he stays with the team.
5. WR/RB - Johnny Landry: Had a better camp than Hayes but as a converted TE will need to prove he can move as fast as his attributes indicate. He's never going to impress anyone with his B&R avoidance or route running but could be a threat out of the backfield in the passing game.
6. C - Juan Dail: Another converted TE, but his move to C didn't pan out as expected as his blocking skills never really materialized. Will probably not make it for the fall.
7. DE - Michael Carter: Speed rusher, but not sure if he makes the team due to lack of pass rush skills. Will need a HUGE preseason to have consideration.
Overall, the Longhorns are happy with King's stellar camp but the Jenkins bust may come back to haunt them with Gillam soon to be entering the dreaded 9th year speed drop... Easy come, easy go though...
