2036 Training Results-a-palooza!

Rd 1: #54 Thomas Fulmore (SLB); 17/3 (55/92)

Rd 2: #72 Oscar Ross (LT); 3/0 (57/81)

Rd 3: #73 Manuel French (RDE); 13/10 (56/90)

Rd 4: #91 Hector Ray (LDE); 6/-12 (31/56)

Rd 5: #25 Frank Shanklin (FS); 10/-4 (41/66)

Rd 6: #53 Laurence Botts (RG); 3/-2 (46/67)

Rd 7: #12 Kevin McWhorter (WR); 4/1 (34/62)

-----

Overall not a bad TC.

2 of 3 on the defensive front made HUGE strides. Fulmore gets to dominate opposite Desjardins in the LB corps, while the combo of French and Colvin are going to be chaos on the ends.

I was hoping Ray could be a good backup at one of the ends, but getting crushed in Training had me repositioning some guys for that purpose. Ray will get a look as a depth DT during the preseason, but might be an early cut casualty.

The guy with the name, Frank Shanklin, had a chance to excel in a suspect secondary, but he faltered as well. Things are nebulous enough that he'll likely survive into the season, unless some walk-ons generate some noise.

On the offense, Ross was stable through Camp, easily locking down a spot on the left side of the O-Line for what could be a long time.

Botts was a hopeful "let lightning strike twice" grab to shore up more of the OL as guys are going to be moving on soon. However, he didn't impress and has become a low-lineup stop-gap until reinforcements with more eligibility arrive.

McWhorter was a Hail Mary that could work out in a light receiver room. Probably the fastest wide out on the team, coaches are hoping he can grow into at least average hands to have a shot at regular playing time.

I’ve been overdue for one of these, but man it sucks.

2nd and 4th will be useful, everyone else is worthless. So it’s a FB and a depth WR

You know you've had a disappointing camp when the highlight is your kicker.

1.14 DT Cooper -2
2.13 CB Sosa -2
3.15 SS Diamond +1
4.14 K Silver +8
5.13 RG Slaughter +1
6.15 RG Booth -3
7.14 DT Cook -8

Not gonna lie. I'm bummed about the Used Car Salesman.

Hi there, first time caller, long time listener;

Is there anything worse than having the apple of you eye getting drafted by the team in front of you? And then booms hard and your draft looks like the Masters leaderboard?

Asking for a friend, I'll hangup and listen.

Under new ownership, Michigan had an amazing camp (turns out the new owner is pretty dang good, who knew).

1st) Robt Khan (CB) +14/+2 Looks as though he will be taking over once Bush moves on, the secondary is in good hands

2nd) Eddie Norton (DT) +20/+10 Going into the draft with only two defensive lineman and no tackles, Norton needed to boom, and boy did he.

3rd) William Norris (DT) +11/+8 A guy Michigan was surprised fell to the third pushed hard in camp to become a staple right along with Norton on the new defensive line. Looks like he could be a force and possibly be DT1 and a wrecking ball in the middle of the line.

4th) Cory Laplante (RG) +15/+9 Needing to get some young blood on the offensive line, Laplante looked good in camp and will be fighting for a guard spot through preseason.

5th) Russell Miller (RG) +11/-7 In a rare miss during this draft, Miller has disappointed during camp. He will look to try and stay with the team as a backup.

6th) David West (DE) +9/+8 Trying to get a little more depth on the defensive line, West showed enough during camp to warrant a place on it. Versatile, West will backup all over the line, from DT to both ends.

7th) Marion Delacruz (DT) +10/+4 Finishing out the draft with one last pick for the d-line, Delacruz showed enough to nab himself a shot at a backup role as well. He will look to bounce around between tackle and end, much like West.

Notable mentions of players picked up after the draft....

John Crank (C) +10/+7 After being drafted by Oklahoma St in the 7th and cut immediately, Crank was brought in to see if he could compete for a depth spot. He didn't disappoint and is now moving on into preseason.

Wade Gregory (DT) +0/-12 Gregory was cut by Texas A&M (7th round pick) after the draft, and it is clear why. He made no progress in camp, and will be released to go work elsewhere, because football is not for him.

Gary Cox (RT) +1/-9 Cox was a undrafted walk-on and, well, him and Gregory will be taking the bus away from Michigan together.

Not gonna lie... So am I. Lol

But I anticipate him sticking around... We'll move him around, see if we can get him to fit anywhere.
