USC Training Camp report:
-1st day acquisition
LT Lester Harvey: Signed locally from San Jose, CA, Harvey is an intriguing prospect for the Trojans and looks to be a day 1 starter. With relatively high football IQ and unadulterated strength, Harvey has the skills necessary to be a productive lineman here at USC. While he hasn't shown much more promise in his pass blocking technique, he makes up with his incredible agility and size at 6'4. Expect to see this Freshman play some starting snaps on the left side of the line this season. +10/-2 55/77
-2nd day acquisition
LDE David Gil: Coming from Kearney, Nebraska, Gil is an exciting addition from the get-go. Our scouting department ranked him as a top 5 prospect with his sheer determination on every play made and his outstanding measureables. During camp, he thoroughly impressed coaches and players alike with his knack to wrap up the ball carrier and his bull-rushing abilities. With how successful camp was for Gil, it will be somewhat difficult for star-studded Senior Willie George to keep his starting position during the season. +10/+6 47/77
-3rd day acquisition
LG Jules Borrow: Borrow could potentially bring a major upgrade to the trenches offensively from Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Rated as one of the more consistent prospects from our scouting department, Borrow is a nasty blocker on the edge that makes life difficult for opposing DE's. He showcased just that during camp, raising our expectations for how he will be utilized for USC this season. Depending on our depth and health during the course of the season, Burrow may find some starting time given a perfect situation arises. +6/+2 42/75
-4th day acquisition
WR Rosario Curtis: With a few players graduating or transferring over to new programs, USC needed some depth at receiver. Curtis provides that and more Coming from Santa Clara, CA. His durability made him a must-have as well as his excelled skill-set in route running. While he needs improvement in many areas such as ball carrying and catching through traffic, he will be a very useful product for many seasons to come here at USC. +5/+6 32/67
-5th day acquisition
FS Adam Davis: Davis seems to be a solid fit in our scheme, signing on from Long Beach, CA. Davis won't be guaranteed a starting role anytime soon, but he has the potential to bring a punch if and when he sees playing time. His floor is about maxed out when it comes to his coverage abilities along with his sub-par speed, but his constant ability to lay down the ball carrier can grow ever so more as long as his positive trend continues. +10/+4 31/56
-6th day acquisition
K Jerry Shelby: Shelby comes a long ways away to become our schools #1 kicker from Lewisburg, West Virginia. Having an accurate boot is essential here at USC and while Shelby wasn't 100% in camp, his high percentage in short to medium FG kicks gives him high appraisal entering this season. USC has tremendous confidence in his ability to replace Molloy. +10/0 53/77
-7th day acquisition
Jose Hubbard: Hubbard's ceiling can only take him so far here at USC coming from Hampton, Virginia. His playmaking abilities during camp drew a little interest, but his lack of pure accuracy and the talent level already at the position will most likely land him in the waivers. +2/+2 28/48
Overall, the coaching staff is extremely pleased with the outcome of TC after a tremendous result of +53/+18. The Trojans are expecting an improved season this year, with the goal of making a bowl game on the horizon. A few spring games may indicate the chances of reaching a bowl game in 2018.
