BIG 10 NOT KIND TO THE BLACK KNIGHTS - ARMY OPENS 2022 CAMPAIGN 0-2
WEEK 1 @ OSU - Columbus, OH | It was a slow start that did-in the Black Knights in their season opening game against a solid Buckeyes squad. Or was it a fast start by OSU?
Army's red-shirt freshman, Daniel Huff was welcomed to the NCAA on the first down played at the Horseshoe.....with a turnover (fumble) that the Buckeyes turned into a score just 5 plays later. OSU wasted no time in putting up their second score of the game on a 66yd TD pass from Osuna to Gonzalez to open the game with a 14-0 lead, just 4 1/2 minutes into the game.
Army didn't give up though. With 11:15 left in the game the Knights took a 20-19 lead on a 33y FG by Carl Lopp. OSU's Mike Nugent answered right back 3 minutes later and the Buckeyes never looked back, adding another TD on a Scott Townsend plunge just after the 2 minute warning.
OSU 29 ARMY 20 FWEEK 2 @ IOWA - Iowa City, IA | By the time the 53 thousand fans in Kinnick Stadium were giving their new traditional "wave" to the children at the University's Children's Hospital, the tone had been set as to where this game was headed.
All on the arm and feet of the true-freshman phenom, Frank White, the Hawkeyes put up 4 scores by half time. Iowa's defense did the rest, shutting out the Army offense in the second half while coasting to their first win of the season.
IOWA 34 ARMY 14 FArmy starts the season 0-2 for the first time in the history of their existence and it doesn't get any easier, any time soon. Up next for the Black Knights: RUTGERS, @ NOTRE DAME, ARIZONA
