PATCHEN MAKES THE RECORD BOOKAnthony Patchen ran one back in a losing effort to Arizona 15-14 in Tucson last night to tie Richard Riley for the season at 8 and for the all time record at 13. This guy has been fantastic, he can make you miss, if you do get him, he can shake you off, and he can run you over. He has been really fun to watch this season. It has to make the opponent wonder if they want to kick it to him. I wouldn't want to. Hopefully, Patchen can get one tonight against Oklahoma and have the records all to himself.
In the Arizona game, McCartney had problems holding on to the football, fumbling 3 times. Byron Gribble ran well 9/68 yards, and Patchen carried 13 times for 47 yards. On the other side of the football, Herbert McKnight led with 9 tackles. We have come to realize just how good McKnight is. He may be rated low but if you watch, he is right there in almost every play. James Strunk got 2 sacks.
The Longhorns finish out the season tonight hosting those dust bowl dwellers from the North. The Longhorns are 4-11 and have been out of contention for a while. But you can assure yourself, they will be ready and treating this as their bowl game.
Texas will also be sending off several seniors so it will be the last time to see some of the Texas players in a Texas uniform. RDE Henderson is one among others.
