I think many of us young teams. My goal was to have a young team that can compete for several seasons. I believe I came close to that goal (hence my 3.4 rating of my draft).

after tonight many of us may have a whole different opinion of our team :(

For me, it's hard to say as I didn't join until halfway through the allocation draft. Based off the AI ratings, my team is around 2.17... which in hindsight sounds probably about right for Navy :)

Downside is that it may take a while for the Middies to get somewhere positive. Like everyone else I'm waiting to see what the "training camp" brings.

after talking with a good amount of coaches i find that common opinion. By this rate everyone won't be competing til year 3 lol. To be honest i was super surprised to see the qb's go so quick. I thought i may be able to get Williams or one of the two guys picked before him in round 2. It caught me off guard and i had to reach for one in round 3. Heck i picked Zorn (75 MVP) in round 26. With the new code QB's are more important as they should be so the league reacted. My guy is the first completely pocket passer i've ever started. It will be interesting to see how i do without a mobile guy. I have horrible alternatives so i'll live and die with Wimbush :)

I drafted to try and be competitive from the start, but still prepare for the future. While my team is far from being a world beater, I have pieces in place that will facilitate my objective. Of course, tonight's sim could throw that all away if I get a bunch of busts - but, for now, I am happy :)

In my allocation drafts I've noticed owners shy away from 3-5 yr players because they are not rookies. I love the 3-5 yr players. They haven't peaked yet and you still get them for 5 plus years before looking for replacements. Not to mention they will be rated better than rookies that have high ceilings for a few years at least. Also, it helps the first couple years of the league as all rookie teams take a few years before they start getting to their potential. Just an opinion.

Only three of my first 10 picks had less than three years experience :)

1: Steven Williams - Year 6
2: John Real - Year 6
3: Donald Vann - Year 8
4: Edmond Sanchez - Year 1
5: Alex Johnston - Year 3
6: Morris Newman - Year 6
7: Danny Cohen - Year 6
8: Mark Dunnigan - Year 2
9: Samuel Weatherford - Year 3
10: Lewis Ensley - Year 1

The Runnin' Rebels draft was maybe a 3.1 but training camp was definitely a 1 at best. Every single redshirt freshman declined! Every one of them, geez!! Going to be a long season for sure!!
Edit: Nope, I was wrong. My punter was a plus 3

Pre-training camp 3.04
Post-training camp 2.6

But a lot of my guys went up quite a bit in their current overall.

Pre camp - 3.0
Post camp -3.0

Out of 16 rookies drafted

8 dropped
6 went up
2 stayed the same

Team as a whole..

22 dropped... 12 of those dropped 1 point...3 dropped 2...3 dropped 3... 4 dropped 4 or more
14 went up... 9 went up 1 point...1 went up 2...4 went up 3
19 stayed the same

Biggest losers...

LB's and DB's

The Jayhawks are thinking camp was heaven, Keith Jackson would say " Oh my"!
