Player spotlight.... 2020 scrimmages

CB Luther Jones

Flying under the radar is nickel back Luther Jones. He is quietly having a strong scrimmage season with 11tackles and 1int with a 36% catch allowed. Problem is, can he and his ball hawking crack the starting lineup?

lol must be nice..that guy would be my number 1 after this year when i lose 3 secondary players to graduation including my top corner ron hudson but on your team he might not even be a starter xD

Sorry Peyton. Jason Adams was only supposed to play the 1st quarter. I had it set that way. Idk why he wasn't taken out.

Gg Dave. Man u made my D look like garbage lol I'm concerned. Anyways Wilson balled out again so for now, Cannon starts. But the leash is real short... Looks like Wilson learned a thing or two from the bench after season 1 disaster!

GG Bryson. Perfect tune-up for the regular season... Even though we came up short on the scoreboard in all 3 scrimmages, I was pleased with the effort and saw some positives in each one. I also saw enough in the newest recruits to say they may all make the roster.

Updated since training camp... my weights:

1. LB Addison Gumbs +14 +4
Gumbs had a good camp and will make the team despite the low tackling. Can also play DE and SS if needed. May push for a stronger role if the tackling improves. Will be depth for now.
After 3 practice games now sits at +16 +4 with 11 tackles, 2 hurries and 1 missed tackle.
2. WR Parnell Motley +12 -1
Signed as a slot receiver but he has a couple to beat out. Gritty kid with good hands and a big heart. Depth for now.
After 3 scrimmages, +16 +0 ... had a good spring with 14 rec for 222 yds, including 6 catches for 124 yds against Ohio State. Will have a roll in this offense.
3. DE John-Michael Terry +3 -4
Disappointing camp. Failed a couple of agility drills and had to walk the last part of the Sooner Mile. Not looking good.
After 3 scrimmages.. +3 -4 ... In limited play had 4 tackles and a sack while working himself out of coach Rileys doghouse before spraining a knee. Will make the squad.
4. C Creed Humphrey +1 +1
Pleasant surprise. Smart kid tries hard and did everything right. He'll make the team but he'll be depth until he can get better with his blocking.
After 3 scrimmages, +1 +2 ...still eager, will be a project.
5. OL Jeffrey Evelyn +2 +0
May make the team...he's a huge road grader type. Depth
After 3 scrimmages, +2 +0... project
6. DE Albert O'Neal +4 +1
Decent camp but OU has WR's stronger than him. Don't see him wearing crimson and cream.
After 3 scrimmages, +4 +2 ...Jury's still out, had 3 tackles 1 sack and 1 hurry in limited snaps.

I'm not quite sure what to do with this team, but maybe my new gameplan can somehow make this team play better than they have been. lol.

Some defensive adjustments are going to be tested in week 1. Expect a safety swap between Edmunson and Rothschild...

Wolverines managing roster space. Had to deactivate 16 players and cut 6. Tough decisions!
