4 star QB Cash Cannon from Illinois has committed to Rutgers football. Cracking all the top recruiting boards, Cannon was one of the top two, if not best, quarterbacks in the class. It was rumored earlier that Rutgers was heavily investing recruiting efforts into him, and it looks like it payed off. Sources tell us that Oregon and Miami were the top competitors, but they eventually placed their efforts elsewhere. Cannon is a quarterback with explosive speed and scrambling abilities, making him a true dual threat quarterback. With a quick release resembling legendary Dan Marino, as well as a rocket arm and above average smarts, he has the tools to become a star and, dare I say it, an eventual Heisman candidate. The risk with Cannon is that with the high ceiling comes his relatively low floor. His accuracy could be an issue if not developed correctly, and his ability to scan the field and throw off defensive backs is unproven for now. Coaches believe they can improve these traits but the current weaknesses are there. He looks to battle for the QB job in the "open competition," but I think I'm sure that Rutgers is rooting for him. It all comes down to how he does in camp this spring. But the bottom line is: We have a Quarterback!
*I haven't written so much about the team and that's cuz of school and busy schedule. I wasn't dedicating enough time to this league last season and I regret it. Great league and one of my favorites, and I will try my best to continue writing some things when I can. Expect a new and more effective gameplan this season! ;)*
