Oklahoma State 49, Rutgers Scarlet Knights 0.

As it turns out, the Oklahoma State Cowboys really like playing in front of their crazy Stillwater home fans! For the second week in a row, the offense managed 40+ while the defense kept the opposing points to less than 10. This game was quite a bit different though. The defensive line was unable to put a lot of pressure on Rutgers QB Thomas Wilson, the Scarlet Knight OLine did a great job of protection. The secondary managed to hold the Rutgers passing attack at bay, while the Cowboy Linebackers did a great job of containing Rutger Superstar RB Chris Northcutt. Offensively, QB Randy Williams showed flashes of what the future holds for this offense. He lead many nice sustained drives in the 1st half, looking composed and making intelligent decisions. Williams threw 4 TD passes in the first half, resulting in a 28-0 halftime lead.

GAME *****:
Offense- QB Randy Williams: 17/28, 295 yds, 4 Td’s, 0 Ints, 138 QB Rating.
Defense- DT Ricky Robinson: 2 sacks, 1 hurry, 1 FF, 1 FRec, 1 INT, 1 TD (INT return)

Eyeballll's View: “This team is playing so well, I’m really blown away! The entire team, every individual player, has exceeded expectations. I couldn’t be more proud of the way these kids are playing. At the beginning of the season we were hoping to be a top ten team, hoping to maybe make the playoffs, but the bar is seeming to be raised on a weekly basis. It’s a fun ride right now! ”

Next Up: The first of two rivalry matchups between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State! It will be tough for the players to keep focused on football during the week leading up to this game, as the BEDLAM games are circled on the calender early in the preseason. The Sooners will be hosting this game, and they are already doing everything they can to make it a hostile environment:

Oklahoma 31, Oklahoma State 10.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys came crashing back down to earth with a devastating loss to State Rivals Oklahoma Sooners. This game was over early as the Cowboys looked outmatched on both sides of the ball. The young Cowboys seemed to be completely overwhelmed by the pregame crowd noise. The Sooner RB tandem of Brown and Quiroz ran over the ineffective OSU DLine all afternoon. The previously disciplined offense were plagued by turnovers and ill-timed penalties, and were unable to make any ground on a stingy Sooner defense. The Cowboy offense coughed up the ball 4 times, stalling any progress they were making. The Oklahoma Sooners drew first blood in the BEDLAM Rivalry!

GAME *****:
Offense- WR John Beck: 5 rec, 82 yds.
Defense- DE John Wiltse: 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 hurry.

Eyeballll's View: “Full marks to the Oklahoma Sooners and their organization! They executed a perfect game plan, and totally deserved the victory. Our players looked like scared little rabbits out there, it seemed to be over before it started. It’s back to the drawing board for us. We figured things were going a little too smoothly, and this loss is humbling for all of us. We look forward to inviting the Sooners to OUR house in Week 16. We will return the favor! But for now, we have to prepare to play U of Kentucky.”

Next Up: OSU return home to face U of Kentucky Wildcats. Kentucky has lost 3 straight games to top opposition in what has to be the toughest schedule in the NCAA. Both teams look to return to the win column.

Oklahoma State 23, U of Kentucky 6.

Oklahoma State overcame a shaky first half to defeat a strong Kentucky team in front of a near capacity home crowd in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Kentucky put QB Williams under constant pressure, sacking him several times and forcing him to throw the ball away many times. Fortunately, OSU’s defense was equally as strong, allowing Kentucky only 102 yards on their 61 offensive plays. Kentucky were the latest victims of the dominant Cowboy DLine, who were in the Wildcat QB Slack’s face all afternoon. Slack was very composed, and managed to not throw one interception after being sacked 5 times and hurried 24 times. All told, a good solid win for Oklahoma State.

GAME *****:
Offense- WR Derrick Vos (again): 5 recs for 156 yds, 2 TD’s
Defense- DT Ricky Robinson, (again): 4 tackles, 2 sacks, 5 hurries, 1 forced fumble/recovery

Eyeballll's View: “It wasn't the easiest game to watch at times. The offense has struggled the last couple of weeks, and we’ve had to remind ourselves that this is a very young team. The defense continues to carry this team, and that’s okay by me. This has turned into the identity of our team. The Cowboy defense played lights out, and the offense played well enough not to lose.”

Next Up: Iowa Hawkeyes visit Oklahoma, riding high after a big win over Kansas Jayhawks. Iowa is looking to win away from home for the first time this season, but it will tough against the 3-0 at home Cowboys.

Oklahoma State 16, Iowa 6

Scoring was hard to come by in this compelling chess match. Both of the punters were busy in this game, as both the OSU and Iowa offenses struggles to move the ball effectively. OSU RB Beck was able to elude the Hawkeye Line early in the 2nd quarter for a 73 yard run, but QB couldn’t capitalize and the Cowboys settled for a field goal. Halftime score: 3-3. End of 3rd Q score 6-6. And then, in a ballsy attempt to seize control of the game, Iowa gambled unsuccessfully on 4th and 2, giving the ball to the Cowboys at midfield. OSU QB Williams responded with a great drive, resulting in the game’s lone touchdown. Oklahoma State added a late field goal, and managed to win the difficult game.

GAME *****:
Offense- RB John Beck: 14 carries, 119yds, 1 TD
Defense- CB Juan Hoke: 4 tackles, 3 catches allowed on 10 throws, 1 knockdown

Eyeballll's View: “Iowa is a tough team! They are much better than their 2-6 record indicates. They came into our house and gave us all we could handle. I feel like a broken record when I say that the defense won the game, but the defense won the game. We are still trying to find our way offensively, but it was good to see Beck contribute so much running the ball. With Pauli out, we needed to find a way to run the ball, and Beck has filled in nicely.”

Next Up: The Cowboys take a roadtrip to Texas to play the Longhorns. The first game was a comfortable 47-7 win for OSU, but playing away from home within their division may prove to be a weakness for this young OSU squad.

Oklahoma State 3, Texas Longhorns 0 (OT).

Nothing to see here. We could talk about how amazing both defenses played, but the that would be ignoring the fact that no points were scoring in 4 QUARTERS of FOOTBALL! Some stunning facts and stats: (1) Field goal range was reached twice in 5 quarters; once in the 4th quarter (missed FG by Texas) and once in OT (winning FG by OSU.) (2) At the end of regulation, there were 326 total yards offense for BOTH teams. (3) The football was punted a grand total of 21 times. There were more punts than first downs. In the end, the Cowboys managed to put together a decent drive and won a game that neither team really deserved to win.

GAME *****:
Offense- No one was given a game ball.
Defense- FS William Daggett: 9Tkls, 1 Hurry, 1 catch allowed on 4 attempts, 1 knockdown, 1 INT .

Eyeballll's View: “I feel a bit responsible for this one. I think we may have rushed Terry Pauli back a little soon, he clearly was still hurting. Honestly, the offensive line has to play better. Williams was sacked on 25% of his dropbacks, that’s too much pressure for a rookie QB to take if he wants to succeed. Our record is great, but there continue to be a lot of areas that we need to improve. We’ve been lucky.”

Next Up: Another important divisional away game, this time against Kansas. The Jayhawks look to avenge their Week 1 loss against OSU. This should be a good close game.

Oklahoma State 34, Kansas Jayhawks 14.

Oklahoma State scored more points on the opening kickoff of this game than they scored in the entire last game. That’s right, the game started off right for the Cowboys as they took advantage of the irritating kickoff return bug to take an early lead. This seemed to deflate the visiting Jayhawks, who struggled to slow down the OSU offense. The speedy WR Omalley proved that he has the goods to be great when he burned past the Kansas secondary to score twice from long range. The 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter proved insurmountable for the Jayhawks to recover from. That being said, Kansas showed no quit as they continued to work hard, outscoring OSU in the final three quarters. But the game was never really in question, as the Cowboys has one of their most balanced, strong games of the season.

GAME *****:
Offense- RB Michael Nance: 18 carries for 136 yds,
Defense- #2 SS Henry Polson 3 tkls, 1 cthalld on 4 attempts, 2 Ints.

Eyeballll's View: “Man, this team really loves to play at home. We knew Kansas would bring the heat, and they did, we really just got off on the right foot. For maybe the first time this year, I’m happy with both sides of the ball. QB Williams and WR Omalley started to show the chemistry we are trying to develop, and that’s exciting. We haven’t been the best team in all of our wins, but we’ve still won. That’s a good trait to have.”

Next Up: Oklahoma State visit GridironGeneral’s Miami Hurricanes. The Cane’s have been tough lately, winning 2 in a row, and OSU always seems to struggle on the road. Will GG have a smile for his next Youtube party, or will it be a single tear? Stay tuned…

Oklahoma State 23, Miami Hurricanes 13.

A fast start by OSU had the home fans thinking rout, but this was a hard fought game that could have gone either way. The first play from scrimmage had OSU stalwart DT Young strip the U QB Yazzie of the ball, and 2 plays later the Cowboys capitalized to take a 7-0 lead before even 1 minute had elapsed. But the U proved that they were better than their shaky start, and they won the trench battle all afternoon. Young OSU QB Williams was under constant pressure all game, as the the U DLine overwhelmed the Cowboys big men over and over. Williams ended with a disappointing stat line of 12/34; but to his credit, he made good decisions and protected the ball well. He scrambled bravely, threw the ball away at the right time, and didn’t turn the ball over once. In the end, the game was decided by turnovers: Yazzie’s fumble and 2 picks were crucial in dividing the fortunes of the teams. This was a close game between two hard hitting teams.

GAME *****:
Offense- RB Terry Pauli: 18 carries for 111 yds, 3 rec for 8 yds.
Defense- CB Juan Hoke: Thrown at 18 times, 3 catches allowed, 3 knockdowns, 1 Int, 4 tckls.

Eyeballll's View: “This was one **** of a football game, football the way it should be played. We obviously need better line play, we have to protect Williams better. It was nice to see Williams show maturity and deal with the pressure. Our defense came up big, and played better as the game went on. This was a tough game to win, and we won it. There is a lot of character of this team! And hats off the GridironGeneral and the U, who came to play. They played a valiant road game, didn’t get the breaks, and go home with a loss. But they have certainly gained our respect. We look forward to playing them in the future!”

Next Up: Georgia suffered a devastating last minute home loss to Kansas, and now will travel to Oklahoma to play the Cowboys. The Bulldogs will come to play, no doubt angry from letting that game slip through their fingers. Should be a good one…

It was a great game! We walked away with the loss, but we are happy with the way we played against the (now #3) #6 team in the nation! We are extremely relieved to suffer no new injuries and will leave this game knowing that we hung around with one of the top dogs and a couple of breaks our way could have changed our fortunes. Props to eyeballll and the OK State Cowboys, we hope to see you in a Bowl Game!
