After a horrible start, the Huskies maintained a level of respectability by finishing 8-8. However, disappointment reigned in the Evergreen state as the Pac-12 north title headed south for the first time in league history. (Congrats Oregon)

After the slow start, the Huskies decided to see what would happen if we let QB Drew Lock let it fly. He responded fairly well with a solid mid-80's QB rating and 28/17 ratio. He set team records in attempts, completions and became the first Dawg to eclipse the 5000 yd mark.

RB Napolean Kaufman had a career year taking advantage of fewer carries, he stayed healthy for 16 games. The results were: 1165 yds rushing on a career best 5.6 ypc. He scored 11 TD on the ground. Kaufman also topped the 1000 mark receiving (1092) and became the first Husky with 100rec (4 TD)

TE TJ Hockenson had the best TE season in team history with 97/917/2

Top rookies were CB Leon Turcios, who led the team with 91 tackles (2 int, 13 KD are both numbers that will improve with exp). Also P Charles Fulmore turned in a very solid campaign.

The Huskies say a surprising early goodbye to SS Michael Miller. The teams career leader in FF and FR still has a few years eligibility. But young star Shane Pauhkoa has supplanted him in the lineup.

Long time backup RB David Monson also leaves the team.

Entering the offseason, the Huskies don't have "starters" to replace. But it is about time to consider long term replacements at the key skill positions of QB and RB.

2032 post-draft thoughts:

The combination of free agency and the draft has given Dawg fans both hope for the future AND the possibility of keeping a current window open.

The Huskies have boasted a couple of the leagues best RB over the life of the league. (Gaskin/Kaufman). Unfortunately, the team's success has been subdued due, at least in part, to extremely mediocre QB play.

Armed with plenty of cap money to spend, the Huskies, for the first time, landed a big time transfer. QB Alex Smith joins the squad from Utah. Smith has three years of eligibility to play in Seattle and is, by far, the most talented QB to put on a Husky uniform. (In this league...NOT real life). So the prospect of combining Kaufman's dual threat talent with a quality QB has fans excited.

Speaking to the aging RB room, the Dawgs addressed the issue; not once, not twice, but three times. Freshman commits Beno Bryant(1st rd) and Corey Dillon(3rd rd) both bring speed AND volatility. (Let training camp be good please!). Husky coaches also are feeling pretty happy about bringing in a Late FA transfer (Matthew Derrick) With Speed/Acc AND blocking ability, coaches see Derrick getting a lot of reps at FB as well.

The Husky WR group should also improve. Compared to the rest of the league, they are just flat SLOW. With Spider Gaines the only guy with 80+ speed. In the 5th rd, we took Kasen Williams. While not a burner, he is, at least, faster then 3 of the 4 incumbents. Coaches expect Freshman RB Beno Bryant to play WR early on until Kaufman retires.

In rd 2, the Huskies took NO risk, but with a moderate ceiling OL Ed Cunningham. Cunningham can step into a starting LG spot adding to the expected offensive improvement.

4th round CB Sidney Jones should be ready to step into a starting role in a year or two when Kevin King graduates.

6th rd Kicker Chuck Nelson looks better than Jeff Jaeger. But they will compete in camp.

As long as training camp doesn't kill me, I am looking forward to the season. We are embarrassed that the Division title left the State of Washington for the first time and have every intention of getting it back.

2032 was a bit of a disappointment finishing 8-8.

After picking up a number of new offensive weapons, the thought was we would at least score more points.

Unfortunately, big name transfer QB Alex Smith was not especially good. (3520 61.4% 18/19 TD/int and a team record 45 sacks allowed...in 15 games)

I will take part of the blame by my lack of making needed changes in the game plan. My focus has not been on MFL the past couple months.

Some positives for the year include the Freshmen:
RB Corey Dillon got 5 starts for an injured Kaufman and managed 682/4 rushing and a team leading 65/692/3 rec.
WR/RB Beno Bryant added 165/1 rushing in spot duty and 45/508/2 rec while handling PR duties.
WR Kasen Williams was solid 34/568/4 to lead the team in ypc.
K Chuck Nelson was a big improvement over Jeff Jeager: 27/31 FG 28/28 XP.

In 11 games Kaufman was his usual solid self with 752/2 rushing and 73/566/2 rec. Kaufman also bypassed Myles Gaskin for the lead in career receptions at 598.

LB Jioe Kelly in his 9th season passed Harold Masters for career tackles reaching 760.

Hopefully I can spend more time with this next season. I am currently cutting a couple teams off of my plate. (Cus-75 and NCAA-2 so far)
