It's sad that anyone would even need a rule about those items, but I know they're needed because some owners will use every exploit they can find.
I was just curious about the reasoning behind having a rule like this just because not everybody knows how to use the contract offer screen, and I don't think it gives you any more of an advantage than knowing how to create rules (which I don't use much either).
If one player uses it and 31 others don't use it, does that not give the one user a competitive advantage? I promise you that the one using it will get the targeted player to sign before the 31 others. How is that not an advantage? If we all use the same guideline, there is no advantage.
I really don't understand how you can't see that. We all target the best players in Free Agency. This rule makes it a lottery as to where the player signs. I did this two seasons ago. I wasn't aware of the rule and owned up to it. I signed the guy, despite many others placing legitimate bids. I hope this clarifies the reasoning behind the rule.
It's not much different than taking the time to line up your punt team for blocks. It's not much different than taking the time to change all of your players to WR's & CB's.
These things are frowned upon here.
(I hope the player position change is frowned upon here. If it isn't, it needs to be.)
