Cutting of graduating players Vote

When should teams be required to cut graduates?

Before season's end to allow all transfers three weeks to decide their team?

Once new season starts before the first Free Agency spin occurs giving transfers two weeks of free agency but allowing teams cap relief on the longer contracts?

Point is, you pay a player for the entirety of the seasons on his contract. Its unrealistic to have to cut the player before the season is over (whether or not the team makes the playoffs). No owner in any sport would cut a contract just days before the end of season and take a salary cap hit, especially when they may not have much cap left during the season. They'll be forced to cut other players too, which isn't fair.

I hear the NCAA will start an investigation on all these contracts!

I also don't like the idea of providing relief for those contracts.

It is effectively forced retirement for these players, so they should be cut by season's end or at season's end.

League 75 is just about wrap up in a few days. Let's see if the CPU will even let players be cut during the End of Season sim. If it doesn't, then the two championship teams won't be able to cut any before the new season begins anyway. So this whole issue is in vain. It definitely wouldn't be fair if the two championship teams could keep the 11 yr players and the rest had to cut them and take a salary cut.

99.999999999% sure it will let you cut.

yeah, pretty sure it will. No reason it shouldn't.

Just thinking that even if it does, this still gives a huge advantage to the two championship teams. Because they won't have to cut anyone until that EOS spin. So any cap loss wouldn't take place until the start of the new season for them.

Nobody is going to be signing new players prior to the end of season sim anyways.

Yeah but I am talking about releasing the 11yr players. Those two teams wouldn't have to cut them until the EOS spin. So they suffer no impact from the cap. It would reflect the following season. And the rest of the teams would suffer in the current season with cap issues from releasing those players.
